The thing that bugs me about the pastor is you'd think the one thing a sorta-related clergy member would try *not* to do would make this shit situation worse. Going to the police with the report he gave he had to know he was nuking the Rekeita's from orbit. He wasn't trying to help. We don't know what led up to this but I can come up with a few better options to try first before setting off a chain of events that ended with the police kicking his door down.

If I'm allowed to speculate, it seems to me that there might have been serious beef between Rekieta and his church. It's possible that the church tried to stage an intervention for the sake of the children and this ultimately failed leading to Rekieta bad mouthing and talking shit to his congregation. Knowing no other option the pastor felt that this one the last thing he could do.
