None that I'm aware of. My speculation at this point is that the charge is based not on what was found at the house, but rather on what was reported by the pastor, and that it was one of the kids doing something physical or sexual to another of the kids. Happens all the time when there is parental abuse or neglect, and especially when there is such a large age gap between the children.

The oldest is 16-17, and the youngest is around 7, right? With the parents out of their mind on sex, drugs, and alcohol, that means it's been kids watching other kids for a while now. That's a bad situation for all parties. You can't put the pressures of parenthood on a minor, they're just not equipped for it and it will fuck with their heads.

I keep going back to the fact that only four of the five kids were in the home when the arrest was made. It's been suggested, but not confirmed, that the oldest was at his private school. However (since we're all throwing our theories out there), what if one of the children was brought in, either at another time or another place? If one of the children made the pastor aware of abuse, I don't think it's too farfetched to consider that either the abuser was taken into custody separately and there are no public records because he is a minor, or that the victim was removed from the family by social services at an earlier date.

Yup. The kids need a lot of therapy. The living conditions didn't change overnight and I am certain that Nick and Kayla, like all addicts, think their kids never noticed.

Those kids now have a normal where mom and dad are fucked up all the time. They didn't even really get the daily release of going to public school everyday.

I'll be upfront in saying why this pisses me off is because I had a neglecting junkie parent. I won't go too TMI because nobody gives a fuck, but this always affects the kids. Everything parents do and don't do will. I hope the kids still have a good enough support system with their home schooling unit and grandparents/extended family that they can make it out of this for the better and ultimately become stronger people for it, but that's a really tough ask. and I hate Nick and Kayla for forcing them to have to go down that path.
Someone's already mentioned this before and it's true, the trauma alone from the guilt the kids probably feel thinking they could've done something to prevent their parents from being fuckups makes my blood boil, because I've been through that. It fucking sucks, this is already a monumental clusterfuck, and it's more than likely going to get worse.
