I am a better Lawyer than Nick and I don't even have a law degree! I represented myself in three civil court cases in the last 10 years and I won every single case. Nick the lawyer doesn't even understand the legal reality that he is facing with these charges. They are not going to go away! He either pleas out and takes advantage of this being a first offense or he blows everything up by being his oppositional defiant self. He apparently doesn't realize that he is at the mercy of the state and the court and that going to rehab is a smart first step legal strategy to get leniency. It also requires him to take accountability and show at least a modicum of remorse. He has already pissed the judge off with his past antics and I am sure he will enrage the prosecution as well. Every single court case that Nick has touched or been a part of has turned to absolute shit and the fact that he cannot see this boggles the mind! He couldn't even get April out of a traffic ticket let alone the serious charges him and his wife now face. If he doesn't humble himself and listen to reason he is going to be in prison for decades to come. I think he will surround himself with people giving him bad advice and confirming his biases to his final demise. I am going to write him a letter in prison telling him that I once warned him in an email what was going to happen to him. He obviously never listened.

it is my understanding that generally they don't reveal the name/identity of the person making the report to minimize reprisals/etc. especially when reporting someone for potential child abuse I think a lot of "mandatory reporters" would be extremely hesitant to come forward if standard practice was to give their identity to the person they reported.

First offence drug crimes usually don't result in actually going to prison. The 25 grams is a lot though so if they add an "intention to distribute" charge, which police sometimes do if the amount of drugs is high, then he might be fucked.

CPS is also likely interviewing his kids this week and depending on what they say the child neglect charge situation could become worse too.
