Kiwifarms is proof that uncensored discussion, though sometimes offensive, produces a far better outcome than censorship.

The lack of censorship is itself a kind of filter. People who are uncomfortable with being called faggots or seeing the nigger word will not become regular users or will stay in very specific threads. Everyone who does stick around is at least okay with being exposed to that kind of thing, even if they don't agree with it.

I don't really follow any lolcows. I used to like the Tommy Tooter board when he was active on them but that's just because it was kind of fun to argue with him or insult him and watch him seethe. I like reading community watch threads sometimes and if there's something featured I might go check it out depending what it is but otherwise I tend to stick to the off topic boards for the most part. I just mostly like the people here and the general board culture. It reminds me of old forums but with modern conveniences.

I randomly came across a guy who archived metokur and started listening to the other guy that archiver was posting. Turns out the other guy owned an obscure gossip site called The Kiwi Farms. Eventually I started listening to him live. That’s when I developed a parasympathetic relationship with him and eventually joined the site.

Damn, all this time I thought people were reacting 'dumb' to my posts because they thought I was an idiot. It's nice to now know the truth that its actually because im too cool and they cant handle it. Thank-you for this valuable insight.

That's literally how I found the farms. I lurked from 2017 till 2021, and then decided to join.
I love how the Farms are the best news network on the net and the discussion is usually very in depth (save for instances when the retards start getting rowdy).
I know Jersh has a love hate relationship with this place, but this little gossip site is one of the most important sites on the web.

But indeed, Kiwi Farms is the only place to speak freely.
 
It makes people behave better in many ways. Other online spaces fall prey to people using them as a personal army, so if you express a wrong opinion you get the foot soldiers set on you.
I’ve found KF a more thoughtful and friendlier place than literally anywhere online. Even online granny knitting groups or online mum groups descend into pettiness and backbiting, but here always seems to sort itself out.

I think partial anonymity, plus the risk that people will just take the piss out of you keeps people honest. I say partial anonymity because you keep the same username and if you’re being a twat people will tell you.
Null is to be commended for managing to maintain this place - firstly just keeping it up is a battle, but keeping it an interesting and fun place to be is even more of an achievement. 10/10 jannying.

I can’t imagine it happening. They go absolutely spastic when they get even a little bit of resistance. Wouldn’t have the strength to infiltrate first before playing their hand.
