What happened to the Mises Caucus? A bunch of "the good ones" got pissed off about libertarians nominating Jo Jorgensen in 2020 because she was pro-mask, lockdown, BLM, and DEI. 2024 was supposed to be the year we put up a Jeffersonian like figure, and they picked this faggot.

Trump 2024.

"We wanted Ron Paul and got Rupaul" should be chiseled into the Libertarian party's tombstone.

As far as I can tell: Dave Smith leaving the race because of family issues killed the Mises Caucus' attempt to make the libertarians at least somewhat of a serious political party instead of the drag queen shitshow it's been. So a total failure at follow-through.

Mises is dead at this point, they still control the party chair but you have libertarians openly saying they'll vote for Trump and even RFK Jr. What's left of the lolbertarians has been co-opted by the same dark forces that captured other institutions.

They are depending on this case. Lawfare to keep him off the ballot failed. Nobody cares about E Jean Carroll and the settlement didn't bankrupt him and force him to drop out. Same with the real estate case, and he's able to appeal that and Leticia James couldn't seize Trump Tower. The classified docs case is delayed indefinitely. Fani Willis made a mockery of the GA election case.

So it's all down to this judge. Doubtless they promised him protection and probably some future reward like a state Supreme Court slot.

Based on the number of polls I've seen posted now where Independents outside of hard blue states vote for Trump harder if he's jailed/convicted, the end result of this strategy seems to be more the mass awareness of who Eugene Debs was among the voters than a substantial swing against Trump.

But break it down and it becomes dubious. Juror X believes by means of falsifying records Trump avoided taxes. Juror Y believes that by means of falsifying records Trump violated federal law. But X thinks Y wrong and Y thinks X wrong, and we call this unanimous?

I'm not sure exactly how this works - like if there was a murder and jurors felt the motives of the killer were one thing or another then it wouldn't invalidate that both agree he was found with the bloody knife in his hand standing over the body crying "I'm glad you're dead". But with this I'm not sure that the reason isn't part of the crime? I.e. without the actual predicate crime, did he actually commit any crime? If they can't agree on a predicate crime, then they're not really agreeing on the same crime. Lawyer want to comment?

It literally doesn't matter what underlying crime they think he was guilty of, because he wasn't convicted of any of them. This shit is such a joke and these people belong in prison.

I think it's amusing they fucked up so bad that their real purpose, a spoiler party, may be at risk. Quite a few races have been lost because of these useful idiots splitting the vote.

And here I thought most of the moderate libertarians fucked off after the 2016 national convention had naked dancing fat men and candidates saying they were cool with doctors giving heroin to five year olds.

Still, I think Trump cut a little deeper into the party's voter base than anyone cares to admit. He did promise to free Ross Ulbricht. Throw in Julian Assange and the only people who'll be voting Libertarian will be the drug addicted anarchists who think the Democrats aren't gay enough.

Had a gf in high school, her dad was a libertarian, active in the party locally

They had their weekly meetings at the local Denny's

I saw pictures he had taken with his libertarian buddies, they were all middle-aged dudes who looked like they'd lost a ZZ Top cosplay competition and just wanted to go fishing, drink a lot of beer, smoke a lot of weed, maybe some cocaine, and shoot a lot of targets on the big property one of them owned outside town

That was 20 years ago

Now lolbertarians want gorldick and love feral niggers wtf happened. They were a little weird but not like this not like this

Every libertarian, as he grows up, must make a choice. Either he accepts that a capitalist society with secure property rights requires cracking down on degenerates and sociopaths, or he accepts that being allowed to buttfuck in the street while high on meth requires state subsidy just to survive. Looks like the Libertarian Party is going the second route.
