Her best trick was spending her life railing against altruism, forcing the rich to contribute to the upkeep of the poor, and any kind of social program, especially social security. Then, once she herself was poor and dying of cancer, she turned right around and applied for social security herself, without EVER ACKNOWLEDGING that maybe she'd been wrong about it.As much as I love Ayn Rand... yes, yes she was lol. Openly had a 20 year affair with a colleague - both she and the boytoy were married, naturally - that went south because the boytoy found a side piece to the side piece and Ayn just couldn't take being third fiddle. There's probably more types of kiwi-level drama to her life but I remember that aspect in particular being extremely well-publicized.
Also her books were full of rape fantasies lol
Smol power level: when I was in high school, I won a small college grant for college by writing an essay about her book The Fountainhead. Book sucked, I just wrote what I figured they wanted to hear, and I won 3rd place nationally. It was only $10, but the chuckles have lasted a lifetime.
