One of the big issues with doing that is that while Nick lives in a very blue state, the rural area he lives in is very conservative, pro-gun and voted heavily for Trump. Trump won the county 61% to 36% in 2020.

Going in front of a jury in a place like that claiming that a guy caught with 28g of coke is a hero and that the local police are the bad guys is not going to work very well. He would do better with that defense if he could get the trial moved to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area with a more liberal and drug-friendly jury pool. But even there I don't think it would work.

I really think that if Nick forces a trial on these charges that he is going to end up both losing and paying a high price for doing it.

There’s a good number of things that don’t exactly add up. It’s weird to me that Nick’s dad was there and saw the state of the house and didnt say anything or didn’t hear from the kids they were hungry. Same with Kayla's parents. Idk how he explains away the kid saying they wore the same clothes for multiple days and smelling on police bodycam or the cocaine they found at his house. Plus his multiple streams where he’s extremely fucked up.

Income may also have had something to do with it. Nick has been earning 100-200$ per stream for a long time now. There’s a good chance the money were tight(er!)

The almost ritualistic drinking on stream was most likely an aggravating factor as well. Most people (most likely including the pre-stream Nick) could handle the occasional tumbler, but Nick made the drinking into an explicit schtick of his streams and even based a significant part of his income on it with the toasts and whatnot, coupled with his streaming schedule it meant he'd be getting blitzed on the regular AND he managed to hinge his family's well-being on it. Eventually it becomes a compulsory ritual of being buzzed when you stream because "that's just how it works" for you and the tolerances mean you have to be drinking more and faster to get into the "streaming groove" and once you've reached that point, good luck buddy.

Late but a smart streamer would have filled an empty whiskey bottle with Apple Juice and drank that for the majority of the stream, having a real whiskey every fourth or fifth drink to get suitably buzzed to fool the audience. It's really not that hard. He didn't have to drink that much.
