Not beforehand. This will all have to be appealed, and I'm guessing all the way to the supreme court before a reasonable judge comes in and says "hold the fuck up, you can't bundle partial jury on several charges to reach the unanimous level."

My problem now is that these judges OBVIOUSLY are no longer scared of trampling all over a defendant's rights if it gets a desirable outcome. And that attitude is the antithesis of the foundation of our justice system.

Yes. But it basically never happens (though it did before the trial started in Georgia) and it would be a New York appeals court judge that would hear it. It especially never happens at this point of a trial.

The thing about the Trump appeal is that a New York judge will be the first line of appeal and they will drag their feet on purpose. I doubt the federal circuit will be any more favorable and i am sure they already have the federal and state court judges picked.

IANAL, but from what I can gather:

No. There are 3 elements to proving he is guilty of the felony crimes. Usually, those 3 elements have to be unanimous. What the judge is doing is splitting them, and saying that they only need 4 votes on each of those 3 elements for him to accept it as a unanimous verdict AS A WHOLE. So 4 could say he falsified business records, 4 could say he intended to do it, and 4 could say it was a felony act. He will combine those 4 votes on each to push it as a 12 vote unanimous on ALL counts. So it now only takes 4 people with TDS on that jury to find him guilty of everything for him to be found guilty.

I do not understand what the plan is here. He can still be elected as a felon. People will just campaign for him which could prove even more damaging when some black Trump rep gets up on stage to testify. It is going to fail on appeal which is going to make them look even worse.

I think they'd hoped that being run through the courts would bleed Trump's support dry and he would either bow out or be forced out by the RNC, on top of wanting to hurt Trump in any way they could. The problem is, Trump's core supporters believe Biden won by cheating and is trying to win again by hamstringing Trump with this bullshit. And more normies are seeing this as a political hit so his support has gone up as Biden's goes down as the economy sinks even lower.

He doesn't need it to survive appeal, he needs a conviction to give to the DNC and journalists so Biden can campaign off of it while the appeal is conveniently scheduled for next December.
