Pretty much. I liked the Disney Land segment most for being classic escalation with the giant beam cannon at the end. The Beowolf fight I'm torn over, on one hand there's the the cool factor of Sojuriu basically tanking an instant death attack to counter with basic ass martial art (which logically would be affective against something immune to magic), on the other hand it's still a stronger human vs. a demi god winning purely by being MC.
The Disney land segment was fun, especially the beam cannon when she shot the moon lol. As for the beowolf fight, I think if you look at it thematically instead of logically, it makes sense. Its what was being built up as the climax to his character arc. He did the impossible when only makes are supposed to be able to do that shit, just on pure humanity fuck yeah. That in of itself was a sliver of true magic. Did it completely make sense? No. But emotionally in the moment it did to me.

My nigga punched Beowulf so hard he grafted the concept of fear into it's DNA. Rule of cool conquers here IMO.

I think somewhere it's clarified that Soujuurou got the same crazy Martial Arts training that Kuzuki from F/SN did, and he could take on servants. Would've been nice if there was more actually IN the Mahoyo game to clarify that. But, there's your clarification from your local Type Moon autist.

How I saw it he is basically such an autist he tapped in to humanity's primal ability of killing animals. Rather than shake in fear like most sane humans.

I actually reached that conclusion myself on the epilogue when he talks about being on an institute on a mountain living a brutal training regime, which is 1 to 1 with Kizuki, and double checked to see their family names are very similar. Kizuki though had the justification of Caster boosting his abilities with magic so he could have a chance against servants.

Ah I see. I think it's confusing because the first draft was a VERY early nasu work

I'm a hour into Little busters. Pretty good shit. And doesn't make my shitbox laptop scream for death. Will report more on the story soon.

I just finished my second re-read of LB a few days ago. Honestly my favorite VN.
Awesome. Yeah I like where the story I'd going, art is good. I did turn the combat mechanics off because I did not get how to use them lol, but apparently it doesn't affect the story, so I'm fine. Maybe on a replay. I'm following a guide rn to get a good read. Overall I'm liking it. Will play more when I get home. Also only 8 gb. Absolutely blessed.

My advice. Save Kurugaya's route for last (before rin2) and pay close attention to the moments when the guys start being all cryptic and philosophical.

I finished Raging Loop the other day. It really had me hooked, which is rare for game to do these days. I think it falls off in the last 1/3 of the game, but it was still good, dropping from a 10/10 to a 9/10.

The music is crazy good, my favorite is the one that plays during the Death Note-esque mind games where everyone is trying to deduce the killer/s:

I wish the sequel would get localized, even though it seems quite different.

I brought it up in the Gundam thread but after playing the demo I'm legit excited about a Western visual novel called

Stories from Sol: The Gun-Dog -

It basically taps into the surprisingly empty market of serving on aboard a Gundam inspired spaceship and interacting with the crew. With a very nostalgic and cool looking PC-98 filter look.

You are a security officer onboard a small ship responding to a mystery signal on the edge of space. At first your job is to just confirm everything Is bog standard and going smoothly, but then everything goes wrong. You have to work with the volatile crew and temperamental ship systems to figure out and fix things

I really want to hear other opinions on it, It seems pretty ambitious for what it is.

There are unfortunately pronoun choices in the beginning ( you look like a normal human being if you pick male or female) and one of the crew pilots looks like a trap, but otherwise It plays solid and I had a good experience.
When I read "Western visual novel" I was waiting for you to mention the LGBT shit, and knew it was coming, because it's inevitable. Too bad because it looks cool at a glance.

Two games:
Adabana Odd Tales: A short (around 6 hours) story about childhood love and using folktales as both nostalgia and coping mechanism. Highly recommend, if only for the beautiful art. Also it's for all ages rather than the last fucked up shit I played from Liar Soft.

Needy Streamer Overload: The meme game about managing a Youtuber thot as a trannie jannie. Played 90 minutes and refund. While it's not bad, you get the gist of it pretty quickly and then it's mainly finding out the flags for game overs, and replaying to get parameters for the different endings. The game is also way less edgy than it looks, and most endings are mundane. Wish the game had more about youtuber specialization in different genres with their own dramas, rather than generic "lonely person online". Maybe someone would make a KF mod.
Also a shitty translation note: Pretty sure the original Japanese used the term medication rather than drugs, since a Japanese youtuber saying she takes drugs would get her crucified for it.

Bonus:
Volcano Princess: Basically Chinese Princess Maker. It's very cute and well made with a lot of ending choices. Unfortunately it's the definition of "wide as the ocean, deep as a puddle". I've pretty much done everything, including the true final boss in the first playthrough, so I didn't feel the need to replay. Still a fun 10 hours the first time around.

The final ending is a bit unsatisfying but the road to get there is great. I didn't quite like how
many of the mysteries are explained with grounded, scientific, real-world answers in a game where.... you go back in time a thousand times to re-live the same day? Seems a bit dumb.
But in spite of that it's a very rare "can't put it down" type of experience with very little filler.

That's a common complaint and I share it myself to a degree. I don't mind blending the two in theory but I feel it was handled somewhat sloppily, it felt contrived.

Has anyone here seen the recent Sayoshi English patch? It's been a work in progress for months afaik, but if it's a repeat of the last fan-made patch..... lol. My Japanese isn't good enough to read it fully, so I rely on patches from autistic legends like George Henry Shaft's work on Cross Channel. Also, does anyone have any denpa/schizoid recs that aren't just the fundamentals/what's listed on VNDB? It feels like a lot of what is listed as denpa on there are short and honestly not really good stories (Saya no Uta and Euphoria cough cough).

Artificial Pidgeons is a pretty soft denpage. Not a whole lot of the intensity or headache inducing mindfuckery. So, it might not be exactly what you're looking for. But, it's still pretty good. It's about weighing your own personal satisfaction against the wellbeing of others.

Ohh this has mixed reviews on Steam, but seems pretty intriguing based off of VNDB. Would you know of any sites that host downloads of it? Can't find it on my normal sites and I can't really shell out $30 on a game rn

Use Qbittorrent to download if you're not used to using p2p sites.

Nyaa(dot)si is good for normal weeb shit too.

I'm struggling to muster up the will to keep playing Ever 17. I've been through Tsugumi's and Sora's routes and I don't think I can handle another conversation about chicken sandwiches.

You's route has definitely been more interesting so far since there are some signs of a twist coming that I've been told Coco's story blows open but this is tough. I feel like I could skip 1/3rd of the dialogue. I've got no problem with slice of life stuff that builds the characters (I even think it's worth playing muv-luv extra), but there's just something about the dialogue in ever 17 that just does absolutely nothing for me.

Am I missing something or is ever 17 one of those games that doesn't hold up to it's successors because it was an early VN that did the whole mindfuck twist first?
