And the best thing this dude was able to find is a nigger complaining about white man modernising his shithole country.
They couldn’t find any good examples? There’s tons from the early days, there’s even regions where cars were initially banned in Canada.

Cars were not universally welcomed or liked early on, but most people were won over because they were better.

To find places cars were banned (truly banned) you have to find places that banned horse-drawn wagons. Many early car bans were because they scared the horses.

I like to imagine there was a sour grapes type urbanist of the middle ages.

"Hark production of over sized wagons. Why thoust needth a wagon large than what can be pulled by a mule. Mule carts from Japan can carry the same goods in as draft horse wagons as they have the same bed size. We must ban draft horses, they consume too much feed and are a danger to we peasants pushing our cargo hand carts"

I suppose this is the right place to post this. There's this retard on twitter who doesn't understand why people live in homes and certainly doesn't know how big 36 cubic feet is.

More in the actual tweet: https://twitter.com/shagbark_hick/status/1760000516887568462

In a separate post, he also suggests people move to shitty houses in the middle of nowhere with a population of literally 230.
This dood is advocating for you to live with less warm room than you get in an economy airline seat lol.

He might be right from a historical perspective (I don’t know) since living space was cramped in the distant past, but fuck that would be a shitty existence only having claim to enough personal space for a coffin.

Well, when it looks like you live out in a van down by the river you'd think even tiny homes are akin to "McMansions". Sure an individual or small family doesn't need a palace to live in, but sleeping in a coffin like a vampire is not my idea goal in life.

P.S. Dude's a north east hillbilly. So I would do the opposite of what he suggests.

Is he going to reject modern medicine and sanitation too?

The guy pointed out what 36 cubic feet actually is. The cubic root of 36 is 3.3 feet, or about a meter. That's either a coffin or a cage, depending on how you divide out the space. That's not how "most people" lived in the past, nor is that the tiny cell the bugman is in the photo.

Maybe his idea of the future is like Maddox's is, where all the "smart people" live out their lives in life sustaining coffins hooked into VR while everyone else has to work under robot overlords to sustain the systems.

He's basing it on some serious faggotry, where taking a medieval "sleeping closet/box bed" and declaring it a "house".

In an era before whole-home heating you'd sleep in that because it would stay warm overnight even if the rest of the house got cold once the fire died out.

Assuming of course that this isn't a troll, how he's responding makes it quite likely, the justification seems to be per person and heated space parts. Historically speaking he isn't completely wrong at least when we look at western world. He's is still wrong but there some truth that alot people had very little heated personal space.

People did live in bigger families and so homes tend to have more people in it. Poor people, especially children and migrant workers, often did sleep pretty tightly packed both for heat and to save room. Thing is both of those things were even back then seen as temporary and not how you supposed to live full time. Kids grow up and leave home for their own families or take over from their parents. Either way it's graduating to a bigger and better space. Also this was something they avoided when possible, like in Finland kids moved to summer rooms when weather allowed to have some personal space. Migrant workers otherhand were there just earn money for while and taking loss on comfort ment better pay. This was just something people did to send money home or to able to afford tools or land for a better job. Temporary misery for long term happiness sort of thing.

Nobody wanted to live like that so mostly they didn't. Small spaces packed with people were highly undesirable. Kings, nobles and other high class people always lived in bigger spaces, usually as big they could get away with reasonable price. Nobody opted for less, it has never been fashionable. At best you have a small city place and spacious summer house in county side.

Way smaller than what people normally historicaly got. House size is usually a cross between needs and means and involves more than just a cot. Even with the strict requirement that all a human needs a cot and a warm room, the heat requirement would increase the space requirement because it is typically a bad idea to snuggle up against a fire place or a heater.

Every time I see a leddit urbanist seething over big cars it makes me want a huge ass car even more. They look a bit ridiculous on polish roads, but I'll happily become a lovely housewife doing chores in a nice big Ford F-150 bought with husband's money. Difficult role but I'm willing to give it my best- and seething posts are going to be my reward.
Interesting account.

I'm having trouble believing this guy's for real.

I don't know, we've thought about that with other /r/fuckcars people and find that they're also doing shit like commenting on porn of especially degenerate subjects on the same account, yet have been doing this for a while.
once you realize that fuckcars posting is basically the same sort of "wouldn't it be great if I was doing X" where X is fucking the hot chick/living like juju the cow/having a million dollars reddit starts to make lots of sense.
