IIRC the professional tardwranglers are moving away from the bpd, npd etc labels and are gonna go with just personality disorder in the future. My limited understanding is that there is a lot of overlap, and "NPD" for example is just a cluster of symptoms that might fit like half the narcissists, while all the others might lack certain features of what is called npd but have some borderline or sociopathic traits instead etc. So I think it's very likely that someone presenting as a borderline wreck might also have some narc traits as well.

Essentially, yeah. Personality disorders are put in clusters - A, B, and C. Cluster A is straight schizo shit, B is dramatic shit, and C is anxiety shit.

B includes BPD, NPD, Histrionic and Antisocial. Those all have the same core components and all stem from a common kind of emotional dysfunction. The lines between them are very blurry.
