• I'm not diabetic but am wondering if I should give myself a preemptive insulin injection. Can you get secondhand diabetes from watching Chantal?

• Now back at home, sitting on couch with YouTube plaque behind her.
• She tells us: at 4 or 5 AM yesterday, she says she'd been fasting for "several hours" (X) and had last eaten at 5 or 6 PM yesterday. She got a 24 reading at that time. Now knows that her meter is off. Going to read the manual to see if she's doing anything wrong. She got freaked out. Decided to sleep after live. Took blood sugar after she woke up, got 24. She's supposed to be on a metformin-like medication, 2000 mg a day (taken twice a day, not sure if she means 1000 mg twice a day or 2000 twice a day-- wasn't clear from how she said it). Quit taking her meds while she was sick. Says she takes full responsibility for "this whole episode" (X).
• Hasn't been taking the medication for "a long time." Swears she'll never miss another pill, "unless for some reason I can't." I like how she pre-loads her excuses; it's a quintessentially gunty thing to do.
• She took a pill after the livestream after seeing how high the reading was. Went to an emergency clinic. They tested her blood. She told them she felt okay, just a little dizzy, which could just have been from the heat. They sent her to nurse's station, where her reading was 16. She asked if she's supposed to be on medication, she admitted she was. She showed "her" (not clear if "her" refers to a doctor or to the nurse) the notes from the last clinic she went to, since she went to a different clinic/doctor today (so, doctor-shopping for the doctor who tells her that she can have unlimited rice and juice, got it).
• "She" told her to keep taking the meds and to come back if the numbers don't go down after a few days. Go back to emergency if the numbers keep going up. "She" thinks it's not an emergency because the high numbers are likely due to not taking meds. NO SHIT? Got "a bunch of prescriptions" for her medications. Did not clarify what she meant by medicationS, plural; the metformin-like medication is the only one she's named in this vlog.
• Her personal machine gave her a reading of 20 when she got home. CALIBRATE YOUR MACHINE, DUMBASS.
• Notes that it's still going down on her machine, even if the number itself is wrong (a downward trend, she means).
• Says again that this is her fault. "I'm sure it's very infuriating to watch."
• "I realize how dangerous diabetes is now" (XXXXXXXXXX).
• Blah blah, taking responsibility now, never missing another pill.
• "I'll have to learn how to eat properly." Immediately followed by CAT DEFLECTION-- she turns the camera to show Julia. She can't even lie convincingly. She can't even stay on track when she's just talking about eating right, which she's never going to do anyway.
• "I'm definitely not going to eat fruit for awhile. Maybe some berries or something like that." So . . . you're going to eat fruit? Talking about fruits with low glycemic index. I'm betting the doctor read her the riot act about her diet. She's also apologizing a lot and talking a lot about taking responsibility. I bet this little wasted-money excursion made chintzy Salah mad.
• "No bread. Like, none." (XXXXXXXX)
• Says that she ate a lot of fruit while she was sick but will cut that out now. As a reminder, as recently as a few days ago, she was touting the health benefits of fruit. The nurse or doctor must have torpedoed that misconception-- but this new knowledge won't last.
• "I know a lot of people are going to have a lot of opinions, a lot of suggestions." She's following what the doctor told her (X).
• Says she was dumb to share her blood sugar.
• Decides to test her blood sugar (yes, immediately after saying she didn't know why she did it before). Cut, and we're in the mukbanging chair.
• Brings out the old machine (the one with the cracked screen).
• Does the test, but it turns out the screen doesn't work at all anymore, so there's no reading to share.
• Gunt out!

tl;dr: She's dying of diabetes, but it's not as extreme as she thought yesterday. Just super bad, not super-dee-duper bad. She'd quit taking her meds. Doctor and/or nurse at the emergency clinic told her to start taking her meds again (duh) and to come back if her blood sugar continues to trend upward, even with the meds. Salah was going into a bank at the beginning of the vlog, so I'm guessing they had to shuffle funds to pay for this visit. She spends a lot of time talking about how this situation was her fault for not taking her meds. My personal theory is that the clinic read her the riot act, and Salah got mad because that was money they didn't have to spend.

Even more of a tl;dr: fat bitch will never learn anything and is gonna die.

A further note: she indicates that she spoke directly to the clinic staff. Her printout is in English, as are the handwritten notes. It's very clear that, in spite of her previous claims to the contrary, everyone at the clinic speaks English and conducts business in English.

It's always really convenient that she seems to always have big medical issues/problems arising when it's coming to the time (for her) to think about and prepare to visa hop again and that her blood sugar levels are through the charts (literally) yet somehow is fine. The most common cause of death for diabetics is heart attack. Cancer is a close second. However, diabetes is a systemic disease that wreaks havoc on your entire body, so kidney disease, stroke, and peripheral artery disease are also common causes of death.

Like most farmers, I remain appalled at Chantal's willful ignorance. In the hospital if a patient had a BG reading of 400, we were required to immediately administer insulin and notify the doctor. Yet here she sits with a fasting BG level of 400, which will automatically rise when she eats something, and she's not doing squat about it. Diabetic coma typically occurs around 600. Yet she continues to stuff herself with sugary drinks, rice, bread, and other heavy starches.

Salah isn’t concerned enough to stop bringing her family sized meals. And/or, not concerned enough to learn about diabetes from anyone who’d know about it; like his sister.

Sorry, but I'm not putting this on Salah. She's an adult, and it's up to her to take charge of her health, not Salah. We've all seen how she acted when Nader and Salah tried to get her to do a bit of exercise or to eat healthier. Totally raging bitch. Watch MSPL. Anyone who has ever lived with an addict will tell you it's easier to just give in than put up with their bullshit when you try to restrict them.

I've seen cancer patients smoke through the hole in their throat (stoma). My guess is that even when Chantal is lying on her back with both feet amputated, chemo coursing through her body, and a dialysis tube filtering her blood, she will still be longing for nashies, loaded pizzas, cups of gravy, and liters of soda. Such is the nature of addiction.

ETA: @Muddy Fupa Balls, I'm not a medfag, just a lowly Registered Nurse, but you're absolutely right -- BG can and does fluctuate. The food you consume, your physical activity, level of dehydration, stress level, medications, blood pressure, even the amount of sleep you get can all cause fluctuations. Any diabetic should know this, including Chantal.

Much like Hamberlynn, Gunt does not want to lose weight or fix her sugar. There's a simple explanation for it:

Gunt doesn't want to help her glucose levels because having a high number gives her the asspats she craves from the VIBidiots. Like in her last live - she took her glucose, it showed a high number, and she pouted and did that annoying baby low BMI cry she does to get the empathy of others. To fix her levels would stop the asspats and she wouldn't have the excuse of saying she didn't "eat-tuh at all" and doesn't understand why her levels are high.

Hamberlynn doesn't want to go through with bypass surgery because she couldn't binge on it, and once she loses weight, then what? She doesn't have the content anymore. Gunt has the very same excuse as to why she won't get the surgery. It's not a money or insurance issue - in her meth-infested brain she fixes the problem of obesity, but stops her from the fixation on food to binge and orgasm over a hubcap of rice. You can subsidize on drugs by taking prescribed meds or weed, but you can't reverse the food she craves.
