My husband had surgery and had wounds the surgeon wanted to let heal naturally. The surgeon gave me a script for Ketamine cream mixed with muscle relaxers that I had to get at a compound pharmacy. It had to be applied before or after dressing changes. The surgeon told my husband “This is going to make you feel good, but don’t eat it” (surgeon has a sense of humor) I asked my husband what the Ketamine cream felt like, and he said it was like a light buzz when you’ve had a few drinks.

It's not unreasonable to expect a young teenager to do laundry. They're capable of putting clothes in a washing machine and turning it on. These kids had terrible parents, but a good parent would be introducing them to doing laundry, basic cooking and cleaning at this point. By 14 a teenager should be able to take care of their own space, do their laundry and cook a few meals. Schools used to teach this things at that age and parents would ask their teenage children to help around the house to earn pocket money. It's a good way to teach them skills they will need when they move out while giving them cash they need with a sense of what it means to earn and value it.

You're not a child at 16 and yes, you should be expected to help with your younger siblings as you grow old enough to be an adult. It's hands on experience for you to become a parent yourself. Do you really find multi-generational households teaching the kids to be adults that objectionable? When I was 14 I was baby sitting other people's kids as a source of income. 14-16 used to be the age where local teenagers with good reputations started baby sitting younger kids for an evening while their parents went out for a while.

I was able to cook fried rice, spaghetti and meatballs and even make dumplings and ravioli (dough premade) at 15, I would never expect any 14-year-old in today's age to do that. It's one of the most important times of a child's life that shouldn't be wasted on the duties of the adults. They can learn how to do basic cooking and laundry in less than a month after they move out.
