I rewatched Gothic King Cobra a couple of days ago since the last time I watched it in full was in 2019 and I knew nothing about Josh then. It’s been said before but it’s really harrowing to watch the documentary now because of how much more coherent Josh used to be. I think Josh’s current state really recontextualizes the documentary from a slice of life about an Internet eccentric to a harrowing time capsule from before his life went downhill. I do think that this has made the documentary more impactful for me and has made it my favorite documentary ever.

I also watch the movie Gummo because I had seen people say that Gothic King Cobra was similar to it. I would definitely recommend that movie if you liked Gothic King Cobra. Very similar style and subject matter.

Why is it controversial to say Cobra is boring with occasional brilliance? Even the clip channels could upload the same video for a week and most weeks it would be the same content as a new video a day.
