Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

Being able to verbally articulate in public what many people feel but, for whatever reason, cannot put into words is always profitable if you're not a total dumbass.

And this is my wisdom and contribution to this thread today, use it responsibly.
Those would be wise words if the people I mentioned and their ilk weren't just endlessly repeating the exact same things everyone else already has.

I haven't watched Drinker in a long time precisely because I got fucking sick of the outrage machine and the same comments over and over and over, but there is a public who seemingly demand it, and it would be pointless to change strategy (on the part of these youtubers) if they can already just pay the rent with small variations on the same tune.

The question is who is actually tuning in for the two hours of hate several times a week? Apparently a lot of people, or fleeting demographics, who knows?

I know there's just too many times I can hear "Rey has no conflict", "Rey has no flaws", "This is not what a strong woman is like", "Kennedy resents Lucas", "Kennedy is despised", "Kennedy self-insert", "Kennedy about to be fired", "Lucasfilm imploding", "Hollywood is falling, the industry is dead" and "Two weeks more".

That's really why I don't come to this thread as often as I used to (even though I made my account on the KF just so that I could post on it and shit on Disney Wars)

Not really. If the reports of Andor and Ahsoka doing worse than Boba Fett and Kenobi are correct, the audience is dwindling hard.

It's got to be mainly just the casual fans who aren't actually fans.

I know someone who watches the animated shit, but not the live action. Up to date on The Bad Batch but hasn't seen Andor. This is a person in their late 30s.

I know someone else who watches the animated and live action with their kids. They didn't understand why I didn't like Kenobi. They have no attachment deep interest or care for the franchise.

I know a younger person who liked TLJ. Really liked it. Never saw TROS, they had lost interest by then.

I know feminist girl boss who dressed as Rey for Halloween. She never saw TROS.

I don't know if I mentioned this, but when I was recently at a screening of ROTJ, there were people cheering and audible so excited for the ewoks. So I guess that's a thing now.

I think a lot of the Dibney TV shows tanking I'd be hesitant to say its less the pool of abused wives is drying up and more people saying Fuck D+.

I meant for the people to watch youtubers like Drinker or Nerdrotic, not for the people who watch Disney Wars.

That's my experience too.

They are also people who seem to want nerd crew for whatever reason because it's cool now, but would laugh at nerds again if it became uncool again.

I imagine the byproduct of Disney repeating the mantra 'it's actually for kids' as a way to demean the franchise and to handwave inconsistencies and just plain wrongdoing paid somewhat in that they're only drawing from that demographic, and not even massively at that. I live near a school and children love to plaster their stuff with the shit they like, I am yet to see kids with Star Wars stuff. I used to see some kids with Mandalorian stuff but not anymore, and kids only liked it because it was in Fortnite anyway.

No one under 30 really cares about this franchise. Like, at all.

Incidentally, boys seems to have developed a strong distaste for Disney. Again this is what the company wanted, as they've been aggressively marketing towards girls for at least two decades straight now anything Disney is perceived as 'girly'.

And girls absolutely don't want anything to do with Star Wars.

This was certainly not the case back in the day.

Filoni fan. Probably knows TCW and Rebels by heart.

Casual TV fan. Probably watches it in the same vein they watch The Boys and Game of Thrones; for simple entertainment.

TLJ fans. They fucking hate TROS for walking back on the themes TLJ introduced.

I don't know if I mentioned this, but when I was recently at a screening of ROTJ, there were people cheering and audible so excited for the ewoks. So I guess that's a thing now.
I suppose they like cute animals in the same vein they like Baby Yoda.

There's people who use it as background noise while they play videogames, assemble miniatures, or do something else.

Then there's people who hate Disney SW so much that they will sit through a 4-hour Mauler video that shits on TFA.

And girls absolutely don't want anything to do with Star Wars.
Girls want things like Twilight and 50 Shades. There were some girls interested in the Sequels because of bad boy Kylo Ren, but him dying in TROS killed that ship and killed their interest.

the ewoks

They became iconic a while ago, I have seen people with Ewok T-Shirts and Merch.

Ironic, isn't it?

4-hour Mauler video

I mean, there are people who like to injure their genitals for whatever reason. There are many paths to self-harm.

For the record, I listened to about 45 minutes of it until I decided that I didn't know what he was going on about. Seriously. It's barely coherent vitriol.

I'd rather have The Little Platoon, I could listen to that guy reading a dictionary.

Lmao at the latest ads that are marketing this Acolyte show as dark and gritty like Andor was. One of them even had a sound effect that was like a knockoff of the siren from  Prometheus.

Speaking for myself personally, I find Drinker more tolerable than most of the culture war spergs because he isn't solely outrage baiting or playing up being an angry reviewer. More often than not, he's just laughing at Hollywood's incompetence, and the amount of times he's sounded legitimately pissed off about something is very low. And if something turns out to be rather good, especially if he didn't expect it, he'll be sure to highlight it. He also knows to keep his videos short and sweet, more often than not under ten minutes apiece, and he's good at summarizing what he liked and didn't like about a particular movie or show in that amount of time. Yeah, maybe it gets a little repetitive hearing what we all already know, but I'm fine with taking a few minutes a week to laugh at something stupid.

That said, I don't bother with hours-long sperg streams because I don't care that much. Generally, nothing that Hollywood puts out is so incredibly awful that it needs to be dissected in excruciating detail, it's generally just a lot of mediocre trash riddled with modern cliches. You don't need to go into every single reason why it's awful when you can pretty much summarize it with "it was created by hack frauds." But like you said, there's an audience for that, so they might as well play to it.

It's important to know when to let go, and to his credit, Drinker has said as much on multiple occasions. I'm entirely apathetic on the modern state of most series I've been a fan of, and I have no hope that it will ever be turned around. I'll still laugh at examples of their incompetence if they come to my attention, but for the most part, I've checked out. There's so much media out there to discover, you don't need to be stuck with modern drivel.

That's how I consume most of the stuff I watch/listen to on YouTube. Second monitor, background noise when doing something like gaming, photo editing etc.

I honestly don't understand how anyone could not be doing so. Every day on my YouTube feed I would have more hours in the day worth of content talking about how lame Hollywood and franchise shit is. We all have our preferred people and channels but who could sit down and watch the multiple-hour streams they often do unless they just need some background noise? The shorter videos are fine, but the panels of multiple people discussing for hours. Does anyone just watch them?

The best are the ones who do the streams and then a day or so later put them up as smaller segments you can pick and choose to watch. I have podcasts I listen in full on YouTube, but they're none of this shit. I like Drinker, I like Film Threat, people like Robert Myer Burnett and many others, but fuck off if I'm going to sit down every day or so and watch two or three-hour streams. Who on earth could do that unless you're unemployed and have zero interests and never get bored.

I just put them on as background noise. Disney's misery makes me happy. It is like Chris Chan if he was a trillionaire.

Speaking of 40k, I hope they'll collab with Disney and we get a 80s style cartoon Palpatine and Emperor apologising for being dirty males, saying that democracy is good and that blackX folk lives matter, and since it is pride month they can wear rainbow robe and pauldrons than make out.
Initiate Order 69!

So I woke up this morning to see there's a star wars marathon on TV. Surprised kinda even though I know they've been doing it on some channels for years because I know Disney keeps trying to wall off more media to their shitty subscription streaming service.

...And then I found out the reason for the marathon was solely because they want to advertise "The Acolyte".
I was like "Haha, ok! Make-believe time is over! OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD"

I utterly despise people like this in the entertainment industry.
LOL, already the "Anakin destroyed the Death Star" and ".....there is no good or evil" made me laugh at this nigger's stupidity. Another celeb who pretends to be a fan. What a surprise. That's what you get for having idiots who have no idea about the product they're promoting in the first place.
