Recess: Next Bell Pitch Bible Leaked - A continuation series for the 1997 Disney cartoon Recess has leaked online, and it's gay as fuck.

Controversial opinion here, but I would argue that Recess was, in fact, never good. It was certainly a cartoon that I watched when it was on, but usually only because it was on before something I actually wanted to watch. The writing was also really bad. Like, embarrassingly so. The thing that sticks in my head most about the show was that smug little motherfucker T.J. (who always looked to me like a lower-T Bobby Hill) would always make some big preachy speech at the end, followed by a literal 'and then everybody clapped' moment.

It's not like this new show is ruining anything good. If the original series was a brand new show airing today, those right-wing grifters on YouTube would probably be up in arms with fake, performative, algorithm-friendly outrage, about how the main characters look like the Burger King Kidz Klub and are therefore 'forced diversity' and how Spinelli is a feminazi girlboss and how Miss Grotke is normalising the idea of typical SJW teachers forcing their liberal agenda down kids throats or whatever. So yeah, I don't care.

Gus trooning out is 100% on the money, though. Weedy little son of a decorated military man who inevitably struggles to live up to his macho father's expectations? Totally accurate characterisation.

>target audience is fans of old show, parents and kids
>assassinate former main characters, include unnecessary sexual content
Cue to a well known Stonetoss meme variant:
"Behold the Recess sequel cast!
*Show the description and pictures of the cast*
How does we attract more viewers?
Viewers".

Anyway, no need to guess how the fans of TJ and Spinelli might have reacted to this. :story:

I haven't actually watched a moment of the show in 20 years, and after watching that clip I'm agreeing. It was kind of trash. I enjoyed it when I was young quite a bit, even preferred it over shows that are objectively better. BUt if it was a new show airing today I wouldn't let my children watch it. The fat faggy would should be a (straight) drag queen instead of a dead monk to even out the diversity.

If this was the mid 2000s they would have made him the secretly gay one. Then again no one in current year can write and actually good male/male relationship. I guess stick with troons gotta be easier to write another low effort which character.

I know this is a stupid thing to say about a cartoon for children, but even as a small Miriam, the writing just felt fake and gay and inauthentic to me. Even little things in the dialogue, like the characters routinely referring to themselves as 'kids'. Real kids don't ever do that - 'kid' is a word adults use to describe children. It just sounded like a room full of slightly out of touch adults, desperately trying to relate to the youth. Which is, I suppose, what it was.

They also did two entirely separate moral panic episode about Pokemon cards, presumably because they were really scraping the barrel to find material that would be relevant to school kids in the late 90s, early 2000s?

They always have to force their faggy shit into "continuations" because deep down they know if they did this with a new IP nobody would fucking watch it.

Even LGBTQ fags don't like this stuff, and would only watch it because they prefer to live in the nostalgic days of when they (hopefully) weren't mutilated freaks and degenerates

I do really think that this could be made right now. Just last year, Disney lost a ton of money on movies, shows and parks. That is on top of what they lost the year before and their legal problems in Florida. Do not forget that Nelson Peltz sold his Disney stock, communicating to the world that there is no saving the company. They will not willingly spent money on something that will not make them money even if they want some virtue signaling. Just look at the X-men. When it came time for them to be in the MCU, they turned around and said that Wolverine, Jean-Grey and Cyclops are not into a poly relationship even though they hinted it for years. They will still virtue signal but limit it to mainly the stuff that they already made or was already deep in production. They will make woke stuff again too but not as often. They no longer have fuck you money.

Someone wrote this with 100% sincerity
The worst part is that someone are the shows oh creators.

Wtf happened to all these people who worked in Disney's golden age of tv animation? First the creators of gargoyles became assholes, now the creators of recess.
and got paid to do so.
Thankfully I don't think people get paid to make pitches, pitch bibles are essentially the tv version of spec scripts.
Nostalgia is a sin. Let go of the past, let them destroy it. All the happy memories are safe in your head where they can't scan them. They'll troon up and mutilate everything you ever loved, but the originals are still there.
Kinda wish we had a respectfully disagree rating that wasn't a joke version. I do see your point but even memories are kept safe on an individual level that doesn't excuse people from doing the things they do to the memories vicariously.

Is Primos! even getting made after the backlash it got?
Say what you want about primos buy at least it is it's OWN idea of trying to pander to the beaner crowd and say...a reboot of Mucha lucha or el tigre.
Even LGBTQ fags don't like this stuff
That being said remember Netflix super drags and q force? Even the most flaming of the gay community hated both shows despite them being all new ips that existed soley to pander and yet were built on stereotypes so outdated they made jasper from family guy cringe.
I love how they describe the only super successful guy in this story as a "loser".
That's not how things work.
I bet the writers are the kind of people who call Elon Musk a "loser" as well (yes, there are plenty of morons who say that).
This idea is at least two years old but it deff reeks of "I'm salty elon musk is a rich successful white guy and I'm still barley able to afford a crappy apartment writing shit cartoons all day."
