CBD oil for sleep. At best, this is a homeopathic remedy, which she briefly promoted through a multi-level marketing scheme.
I think you mean naturopathic remedy, a system of using naturally occurring substances for remedy of ailments. Homeopathic is an often misused term, typically confused with naturopathic and holistic medicine.
Homeopathy is based on “like cures like”and a method of dilution where water molecules (or whatever other substance, typically inert, is used for dilution) “remember” the properties of the original molecule and potency is further increased by successive dilutions. So, if you are allergic to pollen, you could take a small bit of pollen and then mix it with water, shake it vigorously, then dilute it further, shake, dilute, shake, repeat numerous times and now you have your remedy.
If you think that sounds like retarded bullshit, you’re right. Most homeopathic “medicine” contains none of the original compounds’s molecules and is often nothing more than water, alcohol, or pill filler. It’s completely unregulated and there is no guarantee that the claimed product is actually in the “medicine” at all or that dosages are safe or effective.
Holistic medicine is more of an umbrella term for an approach to treatment. It emphasizes a “whole body approach” to treatment that includes mental and spiritual wellbeing alongside physical wellbeing. As such, holistic medicine does incorporate a lot of Complimentary and Alternative Medicine (CAM), sometimes also called integrative medicine, that includes reiki, cupping, meditation, acupuncture, naturopathy, homeopathy, aromatherapy and other efficaciously-questionable treatments. Practitioners of CAM often say they provide evidence-based medicine/care, which they justify by torturing the meaning of evidence-based so they can lie to and scam consumers.
Fun fact: some elements of CAM are covered by Medicare and Medicaid, depending on the state. Most common is acupuncture and homeopathy. So, if a welfare queen wants to get her chi aligned by having tiny needles jabbed into her (aka acupuncture), depending upon the state, they can have Medicaid (aka the tax payers) pay for it.
