Sony hate thread

I do find funny and ironic that american animation in the 1990's-early 2000's was the gateway for dark-skinned beauties (The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, Atlantis, El Dorado, Justice League to name examples I remember). That was certainly a more effective method to promote 'diversity' if they wanted rather than the ugly crap that has been spawning since the past decade.
Hell Casca from Berserk is a masculine brown girl with short hair and she gets even right wing types simping for that mercenaryussy.

Just make your character interesting and not a complete bitch, how hard is that?

Corpos that try to emulate the same traditional animation style of the late-70s through early-00s with diversity shit are fatherless or secretly molested as children

Either GTA6 is going to be the savior of the PS5 and boost its console sales massively or GTA6's launch is going to be embarrassingly bad compared to GTA5 and that PC port will be out within a year as opposed to ~18 months like GTA5.
GTA6 moving PS5 consoles is pure cope. They expect people will buy a £450 PS5 and a £70+ and £80/year subscription just to play the latest niggerslop? It ain't happening.

I had this conversation offline too. The example I gave had to do with Transformers figurines. Hasbro decided to increase the price of their figurines from 15$ to 20$. Do you think people bought them? Yes, they did. Then they decreased their quality with limps falling off and breaking as well as switch to packaging that obsured that under the guise of enviromentalism. Also, they increased the price further to 25$. Did people keep buying them? No, they did not. Stuff landed at Ollie 's for cheapo prices and they cannot sell shit at full price. GTA6 might make some money but it will not save PS5 if it is a bad game. A bad game will hurt GTA7 sales too. Games cost a GDP of a country to develop, gatekeeping with high prices and bad end product will not work out.

I've said before in this thread but GTA6 will not be the success GTA5 was. Some autists think you can't call a game a flop if it moves millions of units, but you can if it doesn't generate the enjoyment or long-term cashmonies from previous games. Graph must go up, and I don't think GTA6 will make line go up

If you think that a single game can't sell a console then you haven't been paying attention. If anything, a game that people actually want to play is the only thing that can sell one.

It has the potential to do so, sure. Xbox 360 had Halo and Gears, PS3 has Uncharted and TLoU. N64 had Mario etc etc.
What I don't think will happen is people paying $499 for a console and $70 (at the cheapest) for a game.

Microsoft could drop their Series S to $199 and steal the consoles sales from Sony.

GTA 6 has a production budget of literally a billion dollars.

It basically needs to be the most successful videogame of all time in order to make a profit.

Will it be enormously successful? Almost certainly, will it make the 3 billion+ dollars necessary to be considered a financial success?

Maybe?

True, if something make a lot of money but not enough to meet expectation, then it failed. If the game sucks and people paid a lot of money for it, good will goes down. Also, GTA5 was lightning in a bottle and so was San Andreas. GTA3 and GTA4 were merely very successful.

A single game rarely sells a console alone. Especially at those prices, especially in this economy, especially when it will be out on PC and especially when Sony said the console is in its second half of its life and thus there is not a lot of future ahead.

Budgets have gone up to unsustainable levels. We are reaching the point where everyone who owns a console has to buy all the games to make them successful, otherwise they failed. The idea that someone does not buy a game because it is not their cup of tea or whatever is becoming a no-go as all games have to make all the money. The bubble will burst this generation or IMMIDIATELY upon the release of the next.

I bought a PSX after seeing CV;SOTN.
I bought a GameCube when RE4 was initially announced as an exclusive.

Let me also add that I ended up finding many games for both these consoles that I still enjoy to this day.
These are just the games that got me to buy them initially.

It's basically impossible for anyone to predict how successful it will be. It's got massive name recognition, but Rockstar is also a completely different company with different management, producers, and writers now than it was in 2013. Much of the institutional knowledge built up by old Rockstar with guys like Houser and Benzies and even Lazlow are now gone.

Plus even if it sells huge numbers initially, GTA5 had a literally unprecedented tail that requires all the stars to align to achieve. Red Dead Redemption 2 was a mega hit, but its online mode was DOA.

People who buy the console for one game and dont buy any others are exactly why playstation is a dying laughing stock
The actual job of a platform holder is to create a captive audience who want to buy the games other companies are selling. How do you think steam stayed on top when all the companies wanted to start their own launchers? because steam has its audience, keeps it audience and its audience buys lots of games. Everyone who wants to sell a game needs to go to steam

GTA III was the 6th best selling game on PS2 (only beaten by Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy X and it's own sequels), and the double pack was 5th on Xbox (only being beaten out by Fable, the Halos and fucking Sneak King)

Were you even born when GTA III came out?

GTA V wasn't lightning in a bottle. It was the culmination of a decade of building the biggest 3rd party IP in gaming.

GTA 5 has a thriving modding community on PC. Everyone saw what happened with Starfield and its launch at how modders basically gave up trying to fix it. If GTA 6 is going to a woke DEI nightmare, will it REALLY push as many units as GTA 5? Even NORMIES are starting to get sick of the woke shit. I'm still ignoring most AAA releases for the next few years going forward primarily because of how fucking terrible they've been over the last year and a half. I don't think the DEI push will move units. In fact, it'll have the opposite effect. People are so very, very tired of being lectured to.

GTA 6 simply won't work with a female protagonist. A second support character, maybe, but NOT the main fucking lead.

What I meant was that they were not GTA5 level of success where they could just rerelease it on any console for over a decade and not need another entry. GTA3 was very successful (as I said) but GTA5 was something else entirely. Everything was just right. Gaming was becoming mainstream, economy was great, all the consoles were selling. You can scream CULMINATION all you want but in the end, we do not live in that enviroment anymore.

Good point on the mods, considering Nexusmods removes all anti-woke mods.

It seems that GTA6 has more reasons where and why it will fail, compared to how it will succeed. What will be the hook? It has to do everything that GTA5 does, but better? If it has amazing graphics, will anyone care after a week? If the humour is gay, then it has the potential to blow up. Who knows, maybe the world will change next year and everything will be OK.

You guys want it to fail, but there's wanting something and it actually happening. Its pretty clear based on the continued success of GTA:O, based on continued sales of GTAV, on the reactions to the trailers of IV that the masses crave more GTA. And given what we've seen in the leaks the game is pretty much guaranteed to be at least good.

GTA V is literally the most successful media of all time, no shit.

Nothing is GTA V level of success.

Gaming was becoming mainstream
Schrodinger's mainstream gaming, where it only became mainstream with PS4 even though PS2 is the highest selling console of all time.

Was PS3 your first console? I'm honestly curious because on one hand I deal with Gaming Boomers on here who base everything on Steam statistics and console sales and then on the other hand I have users who say gaming only went mainstream with the PS4.

GTA 5 has a thriving modding community on PC. Everyone saw what happened with Starfield and its launch at how modders basically gave up trying to fix it.
Doesn't GTA V have like the least engagement on PC?

Why are you even bringing up it's mod community in relation to it's success?

And FYI, Starfield actually has a fairly active mod community right now even without the creation kit released. I was surprised to find that out as well, but just letting you know it's a bad example to use for dying mod communities.

Edit: GTA 6 simply won't work with a female protagonist. A second support character, maybe, but NOT the main fucking lead.
I want to point out that probably a solid 75% of GTA V's success, and that's being very conservative, is based entirely on GTA Online.

Most of the people I know who bought GTA V didn't even get to Trevor in the story and simply played GTA Online.

Hell, most of GTA V's continued success hasn't even been through it's sales and has been through the in game economy I'm pretty sure, which is why they have flat out given it away for free at points in the past 5 years.

Nope! XBox/PS2. I had both (though neither work now)! I meant mainstream as in people started taking gaming seriously in the sense that you could be an adult getting it and no one would ask you if it was for your nephew or treating you like a manchild. I suppose different people have different ideas as to what constitutes mainstream.

The idea I am talking about is "Regression towards the Mid". Like, when an athlete had a streak of good plays and they went to the cover of Sports Illustrated only for their next plays to not be as good. Their performance peaked to astonishing highs and then regressed to a more stable middle. Patrick Boyle has a video on it, check it out:
