They were in one film together: All About Eve. You know how some actors/actresses can carry a film? That was Bette Davis' film. Marilyn Monroe had a small role there; next to Bette Davis, she was practically invisible. I heard Monroe was intimidated by Davis to the point of nausea.

I know Marilyn was Capotes' first choice, but I just can't see her as Holly. It would be similar to Audrey Hepburn playing Monroes' character in How to Marry a Millionaire, IMO. Wouldn't work at all.

Just be happy that marlyn did us a favor and offed herself so we don’t have to see the 90 year old version of her. I mean to each their own and whatever makes those women happy.

If Marilyn lived longer, I could see her establishing a foundation dedicated to mental health or foster youth given her philanthropy. Maybe retire once she found the right person or enough self confidence to keep going. I would love to see how Marilyn would've aged around 60.

Doris Day aged quite well as a similar archetype.
