Sony hate thread

Consoles aren't exciting anymore.
Yeah, I'm only cautiously optimistic for Switch 2 at best now and have nothing but contempt for the others. If counting Steam Deck I was excited for that too, and their inevitable Steam Deck 2.

It's entirely possible that the Xbox Series X|S could be the last Xbox.
Plans could change, but supposedly they're already gearing up for next gen by '26 and/or working on a handheld.

I think next gen will probably be their last major launch if things continue this way for them, at most they'll periodically release upgrades. I wouldn't be surprised to even see Sony do that, I can't imagine what the PS7 generation would look like at this point, if it even happens.

A handheld Steam Deck clone would make the most sense for the next Xbox. Let it run full-fledged Windows 11, with the Xbox GUI as its main thing, and aim to have it on par with the Series S. There you go. That shouldn't be difficult for Microsoft at all, it'd just be a Surface with a built-in Xbox controller.

They gotta do something. This shit ain't fun. There's no fucking individuality or patriotism between Xbox and PlayStation anymore. They're not selling machines that are worth getting excited about anymore. They're selling appliances from different brands you need to install in your home in order to access games and streaming services. And I know it's not even just a case of me growing up and feeling more excitement when I buy a new leaf blower than a gaming machine. They've actively made this hobby colder and unenjoyable. Except for PC, of course, because I can do all sorts of wacky shit with my computer. Check this out *makes my RGB lights flash "N I G G E R" in morse code*

It'll be interesting to see how many Xbox loyalists decide to go PC for the next generation.
Every Xbox player I talk to still says that they'll never go PC because "they like playing on their couch"

Every time I go "why not just hook a fucking PC to your TV, then?" and they look at me absolutely dumbfounded.

I'm convinced you have to be a retard to be an Xbox fanboy at this point.

I've watched my dad use a remote control to slowly, painstakingly type in a search on Netflix or Youtube on his smart TV and I'm just shocked that Boomers and normies consider that more convenient than just plugging in a PC with a mouse and keyboard.

It's not just limited to xbox players. Sony fags say the say thing, or they use the classic "I don't want a big piece of plastic in my living room that won't fit in a cabinet." Nigger, have you see the size of the PS5?

Sony let the PSVR2 die, and it's a fucking shame because it's a genuinely awesome piece of kit. Not shipping full features on PC is fucking retarded. If they want to go the PC route, do it, if they don't, don't. The half-arsed approach won't work.

I am enjoying the seething from Sony fans saying there should be a PC launcher that required PSN+ to use and purchase Sony games. All Sony games on PC should be chock-full of Denovo, anti-cheat and should be sold at full price ($70) because it isn't fair that console users have to pay for online. The same mongs then complain that people forced HD2 to change course.

Playstation is the dumbest department, of the most retarded company with autistic, down-syndrome fans.

Don't all desktop pcs come with HDMI ports, even with basic graphic cards build into the motherboard? All you would need is a wirelss keyboard/mouse/gamepad and you'd be complete.

This is just yet another excuse of a long line of excuses for why people continue to do stupid shit.

My oldest friend has been saying this shit for feels like 10 years now. He basically conceedes that PC is better than Xbox, but he just always says "But I'm not the type of guy that plays at a desk, I need to play on my couch!"

And every time, I point out you just plug an HDMI cable into your PC and it works the same. I'm pretty sure at this point even the Xbox app has features like Steam Big Picture so he wouldn't even need to use a mouse/keyboard for most the shit he plays.

But he is literally the dude who based his entire identity around the Xbox brand starting in high school, and it's just stuck I guess. If Xbox went under I honestly fear he would have a mental breakdown.

I don't know if it's just cause the era I went through highschool was when 360 was dominant, but thank god the only people I see with their life and identity tied to Sony are online.

My first GPU with a built-in HDMI jack was one I bought 14 years ago. And even at that, my computer from 2004 had a DVI jack, which you can pair with a cheap converter for HDMI. Its been standard for a very long time.

What hasn't been, is ease of using a controller and nothing else with a computer hooked up to a TV. Even if you get a prebuilt PC, there's still some DIY you'd need to do within your OS to get it to boot straight to Steam and not have to log in with a password when you turn it on. And if any problems arise, you will need your keyboard and mouse. A console just doesn't have that going on.

I've recently converted an old PC into one for TV use, and I've thought about writing a thread about how it performs and the problems I've had, but the ultimate summary is, consoles right now are still a necessity for anyone that's not computer-savvy unless some very big things change. A full and proper Steam Deck OS is the closest thing we have to a worthwhile console replacement PC.

I've been watching my parents do the same shit for years until last Christmas when I sat down and built them a small white media PC that fits in and matches their white tv cabinet. Both of them know how to use computers well enough to understand so it's double painful knowing they were a couple hundred bucks from never forcing themselves through that again.

The only thing that makes me interested is how I might be able to find an unsold PSVR2 for a fraction of the cost on clearance someday, and I'll actually be able to use it. It'd have to be very deep discount, though. The only thing I care about in VR is Beat Saber, so I don't really wanna drop any more than like $150 for one.

Consoles aren't exciting anymore. Buying a new one is like buying a new microwave. You know exactly what it will do, and all it will ever do. PS6 will sell based on momentum from people who've been buying PlayStations their entire lives, but attracting young newcomers might be an uphill battle.

It's entirely possible that the Xbox Series X|S could be the last Xbox. The brand is very weak, Game Pass isn't growing at all, and they're well known now to have zero exclusives by design. It'll be interesting to see how many Xbox loyalists decide to go PC for the next generation.
If I could do it over I would NOT have bought a series X.

Same with my PS5, man.
If it makes you feel better, I'd have postponed my new PC if I could do it over too. The problem with gaming is more systemic than just what's going on within the Xbox brand or the Playstation brand.
Its not even that this Gen has barely felt like an upgrade on a technical level, or that damn near every game is still being released for Last Gen, but its the fact that most Modern Video Games are kinda shit. With the ballooning budgets seen in Gaming, you get so much “play it safe, paint by numbers” shit that the majority of what comes out is either bland, blurs together, or both.

There’s the occasional Gem that shines through the mountain of shit that is Modern Vidya, but its telling that the game I’ve put the most time into on my “Next Gen Hardware” - I’ve never gotten that btw, its not Next Gen once its a few years old - is a fucking Free to Play game, followed by stuff I’ve played for years on my PS4.

The decision to switch to PC Gaming once this console Gen winds down is becoming easier and easier - least I can backlog shit on Steam then be set for however long that holds me over.

True. IMO, they should have waited to releash the 9th Gen until there was a huge leap in graphical power. The problem is that graphics already look so realistic, you cannot easily see improvement unless you really look which defeats the purpose. The next gen can mainly improve loading times, rendering and frames which is not as easy to advertise as graphics.

Gonna be honest, not really. Silent Hill was never the biggest seller in the first place. Only 1 million in sales for 2, that we know of.

As for the remake, it will probably struggle in terms of:
  1. Silent Hill being dormant for a long period
  2. Horror games shifting focus post-FNAF
A lot of people will also complain that it lacks the feel of the original seeing as the PS2 era graphics play a big part into the horror of that era. Turning it into generic highly detailed realism slop will likely taint the experience as much as having any woke material.

On the flip side, there has been a growing following thanks to the YouTube content mill making it a video essay topic for the past few years. I am sure a good chunk will try the remake since they cannot easily get a hold of the original (beyond emulation).
Agree. that game was designed for the ps2 with a CRT on mind.
