The top % seems to be just a competitive little number to make them feel better. From searching around, these OF models will use that top percentage number to charge other models money in order to promote them. So a "top 0.5%" model would charge more for a shoutout than a "top 5%" model. OF does not explain how they get generate or assign the percentage in depth. There are also many "creators" that make nothing or very little which makes it easier to get into those "top" percentages. According to Business Insider as of May 2023 there are 3 million registered creators. So the only real winner here is OF who takes 20% of everything.
