Not Just Bikes / r/fuckcars / Urbanists / New Urbanism / Car-Free / Anti-Car - People and grifters who hate personal transport, freedom, cars, roads, suburbs, and are obsessed with city planning and urban design

My completely uneducated guess about the congestion pricing thing is it was determined that people driving into the city would sooner move out of the state entirely than pay extra for the privilege to enter said city, thus either nullifying the perceived increase in funds or even causing an outright net negative for the economy as a whole.

Anywho, Twitter's seething too:

The bugmen are going to vote Hochul out because congestion pricing literally was impossible. Lol. Lmao even.

Remember, NYC’s trains are grade separated and they’re not shy about building bus lanes. Congestion pricing does not affect car-free people because they’re not using the car roads. The only people it benefits are rich drivers who get to price out all the poors in their way.

Urbanists support for congestion pricing is based entirely on their hatred for cars. They want drivers to suffer and be taxed to fund their lifestyle. Imagine their rage if they actually had to pay their own way; the price of a subway ticket in NYC would have to quadruple from $2.90 to $11.60 to have a farebox recovery ratio of 100% (which still only covers operating costs, not capital).

Holy fuck hahahahaha
Appropriate to use a cargo bike for someone with a lot of baggage.

Honestly, good for them lol. Weddings are a great place to use obscure and other weird forms of transportation, like limos, bikes, horse and carriages, negros carrying a throne, etc.

NYC is one of the few cities, that if you know your shit, you can get from location to location without ever actually crossing traffic at grade because the subway stations are so long that you can go down into one and come out of the same station a block or two away from where you are.

They literally just don't want to see cars. Mayor Hochul probably politically saved their collective asses but they will never realize/admit it. Congestion pricing, if enabled before the election, could actually piss enough of NY off to make it vote crazy.

She's the governor, not the mayor. I don't think NYC or its suburbs going red (or at least a lighter shade of blue) was ever a real risk, but it would be a risk to Hochul. She's an establishment politician and not popular enough to go rogue like Trump, and the political machine that put her in office in the first place wouldn't hesitate to pull her and prop up a different Democrat politician.

Yeah, the congestion pricing only reveals the hypocrisy. They're obsessed with making anyone who drives a car "pay for your own lifestyle", but the congestion pricing wasn't going to build or maintain new highways or new roads.

It would literally be the equivalent that there would be a new $15 charge on subway tickets to pay for maintenance of surface streets in New York City.

That makes it even more obvious what she's (having) to do - time and time again we see dem governors have to reign in their liberal infested city because while the city is true blue™ the state isn't, and they need to keep the balance. See Walz in Minnesota having to reign in Minneapolis in various ways, including that recent attempt to prosecute a cop for a good shoot.

The thing is that even in New York City the polls weren't favorable.

Either the plan is dead for certain (who really cares about the wasted infrastructure, it's New York, the right people have been paid off) or there's going be some compromise in the next two years, like cutting the price down and/or offering rebates for environmentally-friendly vehicles.

Weirdly enough I'm sort of on the side of not having weddings that are too extravagant if both parties agree on it. I think the wedding industry profits a lot on money that could be spent on other things.

I suppose he's just setting the bar for this single mom, "remember this is your future now. The summation of your life choices have lead you here", as she sits in the basket while "Hello darkness my old friend" plays in the background.

The only thing missing is a niglet kid
It's coming. It's just currently in progress.

Accompanied by this I assume:

I don't quite understand why they hate cars, when they're really just upset at their own incapability of operating one. Eventually autonomous vehicles will become so much better than human drivers that no one who isn't performing some kind of specialty job will actually need to drive. I'm curious how they'll be able to justify their idiotic hatred when that becomes the new reality.
Just another symptom of the general abdication of individual responsibility. Not necessarily in the sense that individuals choose to abandon it - rather, each person has a share that is shrinking relative to the whole while still increasing in burden, making it easy to learn to be helpless or out of your depth.

I've made my suspicions clear that the woman from Reddit probably is exaggerating her symptoms, and is using bullshit as to why she can't take advantage of ridesharing. (It's suspicious that she doesn't want to ride with strangers...but is okay with public transit? Well, one of the symptoms is delusions, so maybe it all makes it sense). But if I was struck with some disability that makes it more difficult for me to drive, I'd want to see if there was a reasonable accommodation so I can continue to drive, like just taking regular medication.

Well, coincidentally, the US automobile industry spends about 12 Billion dollars a year on advertising. So we just take this money.
How exactly do they intend on just "taking" said money. Unless what they really mean which is basically just steal. They really are children detached from reality. If Biden cancelling student loan debt didn't go over well with people imagine proposing this shit lol. This sort of feels like a troll, but probably isn't.

I love their idea to see them sent to Europe when they'll likely see that it's just as car dependent as the United states with perhaps better public transport options because of density, less income, and high trust societies. What we should do is send them to Mumbai to see what true road and transit anarchy is and thank the lucky stars we aren't a third world country with beyond shit infrastructure.

They have done this trap so many times. Tax the thing they don’t like to pay for the thing they like. People stop doing the thing they don’t like, money dries up, and the thing they like dies, too.

A lot of the leftist class like them is made up of young people who grew up in homes where their parents took care of everything and then moved on to college and took out student loans. The think everything should be free because for their entire lives there's been this pattern of more responsible people in their families taking on the burden and of "free" government programs. (Loans are too abstract to them apparently. They don't seem to understand it's basically a way of turning buying something into a subscription or a rent to own to put it in dummy terms. And that they still ultimately are supposed to use their money, just in smaller amounts over time.) They think this should be the norm and should continue. They legit just never have worked for any appreciable amount of money or only spent what they've earned. It's why they're so butthurt about people who have more than them (like people with cars!). Normal people will see someone with something they don't have and think "that would be nice" as a simple thought or they'll want to find a way to get the resources to live the same way. These people instead get mad they don't already have access to it.

Essentially: what not making your kids mow someone's lawn or walk a neighbors dog to buy their first phone does to a motherfucker.

All of this is just poorly veiled envy and acceptable forms of classism (both ways). It's why none of their explanations for why cars are bad make sense because they're not actual reasons they're copes meant to obfuscate their true feelings.
