I don't think what you're saying is mutually exclusive from my opinion on brain damage. I don't think the drugs caused him to spiral out like this via brain damage, I just think the brain damage is incidental. I grant that all that's happened is 100 percent on nick and his true self and it can't be pinned on the drugs alone but I have zero doubt if we had a brain scan of him now compared to 5 years ago you'd see visible damage on that grey matter on the resulting scans. I just don't believe you can drink and do coke to the degree he did, for the amount of time he did, without getting a few holes dissolved in your head.

Almost every single person in this thread, if you gave them a button they could push that would cause Nick Rekieta to man up and become a good father and overall decent person, they'd press it. I doubt anyone is sitting here actively hoping that he doesn't get better. We are just facing the reality that he almost certainly won't. One, because people in general in his situation usually don't, and two, because we have years of autistic documentation reliably showing what kind of person he is.

I can't be a hypocrite. I was in a similar situation(minus alcohol and guns, 15 years ago. I reclaimed my life, 14 years ago. Therefore, I will hold hope that they do the right thing. I think he could kick the coke, for sure. Coke has no real physical withdrawal. It is just a matter of changing people, places, and things. I see the alcohol being the major stumbling block.
