need a confirmation on this anectode, are bots/bot hosters/whatever the fuck making an attempt at sending bots in community servers now?
saw recently how in uncletopia a singular fixTF2 bot hopped in one of the servers (that i was playing on), and instantly crashed it when it got votekicked.
If it’s true, then I salute the guy who sent the bot to pedotopia. But I wouldn’t be shocked if they are just now trying to infiltrate other community servers, I play in offline matches so I don’t know.

They could've very well gone with the Unreal, Unreal Tournament or even Counter-Strike school of thought for the guns and their balancing (since they all stem from doom and then quake 1). I mean, unreal tournament is most likely the only formula that could co-exist in TF2, out of all old arena shooters.

it's hard to do a financial boycott when the company would rather the game just die and you hop on their bigger better slot machines
The moment TF2 economy dies a huge chunk of CS and Dota players will start cashing out their inventories fucking up their economies too. Followed by permanent distrust towards buying any virtual item from them again. Valve is in a hard spot with this, even if they wanted to just stop maintaining that spaghetti code they can't. Saying that financial boycott will do basically nothing is just retarded.

It's either boycott or keep bitching about bots for another 10 years. Maybe this will be the wake up call the gaming industry needs once they start seeing people finally realizing that there's nothing in virtual items with all the money they throw at them. So anybody saying that that it's going to hurt CS go and Dota 2, you're a faggot, this is how we get them to listen to us by collapsing their entire empire and have them at the tip of our gaming mice.

I don't care who this hurts real change doesn't happen by signing a petition, real change doesn't happen by review bombing, real change happens when we cut off the parasites only source of nutrients. Once then it will start shriveling up and dying before our very eyes. Valve is like invasive weed you got to pull it up from the ground and leave it there to wither away if you don't want to come back.

While watching one of those savetf2 fags (I think weezy) I heard them talk about how Helldivers 2 was saved by review bombing. Absolutely no mention of the fact that Valve has pulled the trigger to let anybody refund the game whether they had 1 hour or 100 hours. It's worth mentioning refunding actually costs them money through fees on top of giving you your money back.

These "leaders of the movement" are wilfully ignorant or retarded, so are their fans who found the scapegoat of VAC. Valve Allows Cheaters, get it? Zesty Jesus has cashed out most of his inventory and has actually spoke about financial boycotts and how retarded their plan is. No wonder he's the boogeyman of TF2, he's the only one to speak the uncomfortable truths to these delusional faggots.

You will not change a damn thing. Neither will 25,000 people. Valve made it as clear as glass.

Begun, the backlash has...
I don't pay much attention to the TF2 community or reddit, so I can't say I agree or disagree with what he says about it although it seems accurate to what I've seen when checking the Steam Discussion Forums. The part about all TF2 YouTubers talking the same way was a little funny. He is correct that Valve isn't going to come back to TF2 regardless of petitions or whatever other hashtags are tried, it's an old game and they'd end up stagnant if they only focused on keeping their old games up to date and never innovated, plus whenever they change something, there's usually some controversy behind it. The bot issue also is not an easy thing to fix, though I don't think anyone denies that.

So I haven't played tf2 in years. But I decided to give it a spin again after watching Zesty's videos on botting and inevitably falling into the rabbit hole of tf2 videos, and with the whole save fix tf2 thing ramping up again, I thought to try it out a bit to see the state of things.
I log in after years to experience the following.
-100 player maps. (I know this isn't new). Funny clusterfuck for about 30 minutes then it got stale. But I kinda enjoyed it...
-Hyper autistic RP/Jailbreak/zombie/'insert not tf2 gamemode here' servers being way too popular than they should be
(I accidentally loaded into one that probably downloaded 60gb of furry images in my game folder or some shit)
-Half the 'community' servers not working or otherwise falsely inflating the player count.
-90% of the maps being either 2fort or turbine (the worst maps in the entire game yet the most popular for some reason)
-At least one server full of trannies and simps for the one 'woman' on voice (gross), but otherwise the match was fun, I got to pubstomp and call them niggers before getting server banned by a teenager who sounded like he was leaking brains through his nose.
-At least half the players in every match (regardless of server) with '#Fixtf2' or '#Savetf2' in their name.
-Intense servers that try to be competitive, as a result they change half the weapons stats and disable funny crits and all the rest of it. Expect trimping demos and ADHD riddled soldiers kicking your ass without remorse. IMO some of these people have reached the skill cap and genuinely seem miserable.
-More trannies than you could chuck a noose at.
Granted all of this have been status quo for a long time. So none of this is news to me or anyone.

But after playing a good number of casual matches and community servers. I never seen a single explicit bot, I never seen an obvious cheater either. I was told this was a HUUUUGE problem on official valve servers. But what I did see was in every single match was someone accusing another of cheating or botting which lead to votekick spam. And by default everyone presses 'yes' which leads to retards votekicking people for just being better than them. The paranoia appears more prevalent than the actual problem, at least on the surface.

I know the issue of botting is way bigger than cheating skids. I know the matchmaking system is significantly responsible for destroying community servers, I know the game never gets updated or fixed and every update is shit. I know that the only thing the game really adds is shitty cosmetics for tranny addicts. I know tf2 is a game left to rot by Valve... But I'm starting to think that the playerbase is half the problem.
So my question is this...

If the tf2 community is that passionate about their game. Why does the community suck so much? Do they think that anything will ever really improve or is this just all a cope?

Tf2 is like 16 years old. But despite its age, it seems to consistently attract the biggest retards. And while the soy munching reddit mongoloids will insist the game is wholesome and amazing (they don't even play the game), everyone can see past that fake positive shit, I see a playerbase that's either in denial or straight up dissatisfied but too addicted to quit.

Tf2 is a game where you make your own fun by design. Yet you have morons who insist the game is a viable competitive sport and then you have the gibus wearing masses blaming all the game's problems on the former demographic. Everyone's at each other's throats which makes the reddit tier circlejerk about the community even more laughable.

Say that Valve actually cared about their game and at the snap of a finger removed every bot, now and forever. I don't think anything would change. People would still accuse everyone of cheating and the community will still be a volatile mess, they'd make some new problem in their head overnight and the cycle would repeat itself.

TLDR: Tf2 is a fun game. Even after all these years. But my god you have to sift through a lot of shit just to find people who don't take dick up every conceivable orifice.

You hit the nail right on the head, kiwifren. TF2 as a game is essentially dead and the water, and how it attracts some of lowest forms of sodomite, general reddit retard, cross dressing caveman, or low level sperg is seemingly beyond me. I wouldn't say I'm a veteran, unlike Uncle Dane. But I have been playing this game on and off ever since the middle of the Tough Break campaign. It was a fun ride, I got to play on the community servers for a while and met some great people. I think the community now is just all reddit tards eating eachother alive, which is funny to watch from a distance. But they never got to experience going into community servers and being pubstomped or getting a few kills and it just makes me laugh.

Imagine wasting your life playing this game. Sinking in thousands of dollars not even realizing the corporation you're bootlicking has moved on a long time ago. It's fucking embarrasing.

I think it's just a mix of the game being so casual it's easy for even drooling retards to pick up and get good at, and the game being so old and unloved they're the only ones left after everyone else has grown up or simply moved on. Actually, that's really sad now that I think about it.

the fundamental issue is that everyone is trying to do cpr on a rotting corpse, the magic is gone and no amount of SFMs, hilarious reddit memes or server making will give any of it back, no amount of quirky gamemodes, maps and tweaks will un-solve this game.

another issue is that its servers have become like the internet, centralized and mainstream, back in 2012 you could find a fuckton of servers that had their definition of playing the game, you had vanilla servers with lots of custom maps, you had trade servers, you had custom MvM servers, VSH, FF2 and mario kart, or if you wanted something more niche you had a chance of playing older (and now gone) gamemodes like wacky races, tower defense, warioware and smash fortress 2.

i miss this era of creativity, since now all we're stuck with is this endless sanitized slop of jailbreak, idle servers, prophunt, FF2, uncletopia/skial, orange servers, 2fort/dustbowl, x10/100/1000 and whatever other tranny mouthbreathing garbage there is to be.
