Linus Gabriel Sebastian & Linus Media Group / Linus Tech Tips - Narcissistic corporate shill YouTuber driving his media empire into the ground. KILL COUNT: 2

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
LTT is what's everything wrong with YouTube these days.
Advertisement disguised as informative content, baked in sponsor segments with a longer runtime than the "content" itself, disgusting soy face thumbnails, shitting out a video every 3 seconds, sucking the algorithms cock, segmenting "content" in 4353 sub channels, aggressive expansion of their staff, without any gains in quality, excessive spending on technical equipment, again with no gain in quality, obnoxious fan base that gobbles up their slop and defends any of their borderline fraudulent business practises.
"Relateable" business social media accounts are a close second on the what-I-hate-on-the-internet-list of today.
I take my top hats now.

It's a shame their sponsors do. Imagine paying $50,000 to Tech-QVC for them to shill your product for 15 minutes, but it's constantly broken up by them trying to sell their own hats instead and the video is raped with the maximum amount of adsense interuptions and pre-rolls that they pocket.

I guess that explains why their sponsors are mostly just chink-shit now. A reputable company would withhold payment for that sort of shithousery.
I'm genuinely surprised that the sponsors allow this. It's definitely not common - "don't run AdSense on the video" is sponsored content contract 101.

Friendly reminder that I could hire a lawyer tomorrow to do an "independent" investigation and construct the SOW in a way that makes them find exactly what I want to find. This isn't fucking difficult, and means nothing. I've seen a legitimate sex pest hire a third party employment attorney to clear his own name.

The result will always say what the person paying the bills wants it to say.

We have investigated ourselves and found that we didn't do anything wrong.

They are current getting torn up about their computex snapdragon video. Its clearly just one long ad with zero info. One day more people will catch on and LTT will die. I want to see their demographic breakdown, it has to be nothing but retarded zoomers.
Also seems they blurred ARM and weren't allowed to say it for some reason.

Forgot to turn off dearrow, here is the typical LTT title until they change it:

They still have an audience because it's mostly Indian street-shitters. They are the most blindly brand loyal people on the planet. LTT can continue to pump out low quality clickbait and 15 minute long ads and they will happily head wobble to it.

Channels like this survive in part thanks to the regular churn of hobbies. People get into custom/gaming/whatever PCs, want to learn a bit more, and the algorithm serves them up LTT. They watch and subscribe because LTT videos are good for newbies. Some of these people will then eventually move on to better channels and sources while others remain casual fans. LTT will fade away someday but it'll most likely be a gradual process.

I would still recommend the original Anthony 2019 computer build video just to show how to build a normal spec'd computer. It's many times better than their new shitty "this is the last PC build guide you'll need" despite being 5 years old. That's the only LTT video I'd recommend to someone to this day.

And then you use Jayztwocents video for after building a computer.

It was a year or two ago when I told someone thinking about trying their first build to watch these two first and then let me know if you want to build one, and we'll go from there. He was confident enough to do it himself and there were no issues, he only got hung up on computer cases because they varied wildly in price and size without actual correlation to quality, so he just got a generic $70 Lian Li case and it worked.

In trying to pimp his cable clamps, Linus is doing a spinoff of home upgrade where he is the "Setup Doctor," a title as fake as DOCTOR Jill Biden. It looks like he's trying to do two at the same time, leaving his workers to do the main cleaning and setup. This Sammy guy is the social media coordinator, which means I think he took crazy Madison's job, and looks to be living at home still (not shitting on that, just a sad state of affairs in current year North America).

Oh look, another show created to get into the employees home and fuck around. Sammy must feel bad since he didn't get the $5000 upgrade but just his setup cable managed. $800-$1000 for a 2 legged desk, you can get a good 4 legged one for that.

I don't watch LTT slop regularly so I don't have much to compare it to but yes, it does feel like a giant ad.
The point of the vid seems to be to encourage pre-orders of the new laptops but it doesn't really sell me on it despite being a 10-minute ad. Even if I was as stupid of a consoomer as Linus thinks members of his audience are, he does a bad job of explaining clearly why I'd need it.
It feels like he felt obligated to throw in pieces of skepticism / pseudo-criticism and some speculation about the future ARM-laptops just to have something to point to and say he wasn't an outright shill. Its like a video version of those "10 reasons you should be excited for Ass Creed 14" articles where only the guy producing the piece seems to be the only one doesn't realize that he's just regurgitating nonsensical marketing points.

He says he'll verify the first-party performance numbers later but does LTT even have a laptop bench and data to do a fair comparison / review in the first place? And to what extent is he really going to test MS's and SD's claims about performance when so many of them are tied to very changeable conditions like compatibility layers and AI features that haven't even been finalized? For a large part, he's basically shilling for out of the box bloatware that comes with laptops and apparently nobody on his team or SD's marketing team was smart enough to think that might be a bad look; and ofc we can't expect Linus to think about it because Linus doesn't seem to think at all.

My guess is that LTT is one of those media outlets that takes money to cover booths and since he has to preserve the veneer of credibility he disclosed the exchange of cash by making it a sponsored vid and threw in the marketing stuff he was given along with a few sentences of his (content writer's) opinion as the actual "content" of the video.

EDIT: Just watching it over, he talks about how the webcam is going to be better because Qualcomm has experience with mobile cameras and stuff but how is that even relevant? He talks about traditional built-in webcams being limited to 480mb/s and how SD laptops support webcam bandwidth of 2Gbps or something. How much bandwidth does a shitty webcam use in the first place? Why is it even highlighted after the sponsor segment?

You won't get it unless you use the new macbooks. Its indirectly comparing the snapdragon processor against the Apple M processors while also shilling the different manufacturers that will using it.
And yes, I use a macbook.

As many bones as I have to pick with Apple, I'll admit that Macbooks have one advantage over Windows laptops and thats that they don't come preloaded with 7 flavors of cancer right out of the box besides Windows itself. Is LTT dumb enough to hype up the modern equivalent of suspicious browser toolbars and are LLT viewers dumb enough to buy into it?
