That's a really stupid way to frame this question. I get their methodology (if we're more specific about what these hypothetical bans involve, does that change people's opinions?), but they're lumping in things that people might be fine with along with things that they would be opposed to. I want kids to be able to see a therapist and stop being ashamed of their birth sex, but I don't want them to get put on puberty blockers, pumped with artificial hormones, and have functional body parts lopped off.

Not only that, but as their conclusion states, the phrasing around tying this to a government ban muddles the waters. To quote, "the relatively low support for banning laws on gender-affirming care may be attributable to Americans’ general distaste for bans." There could be a significant portion of that group that opposes banning things on general principle but also doesn't think that people should be trooning out their kids. I also wouldn't be surprised if there were some people who got confused by the wording and thought that "oppose" meant that they opposed these procedures, not that they opposed banning them.
