Actual woman here, I think 40% is a bit high but could be closer to 30%. A lot of the actual women are pooners or enbies though.

No way. There are more women than there was 10 years ago, but I'd say it's gone from <5% to 10/15% at most (still seems high). There are a ton on furry twitter these days, mostly in the AD sphere. I assume a lot of onlyfans models realized the fandom's paypig potential.

The 'Gervasi Studies' are pure bullshit since they're self-selected volunteered stuff. The scientific rigor around it is predictably terrible.

There do seem like a lot more furries go to the East Coast con then others i have been to. That and i just run into more at events. I think that Women tend to be less social retards so they are more likely to do social things.
Who are they selling? The largest demographic are Fagots and If its art/Fursuit it isn't gay.

One of my best friends in college was a furry. He was bisexual and I met him cause his boyfriend was in a few of my classes and we did a group project together. He was really funny and we quickly became friends and hung out all the time. Over the course of college, he got more and more into fetish stuff, and he eventually broke up with his boyfriend, got an interest in cross-dressing, dropped out of school, started taking hormones, and changed his name. Now he's been unemployed for like a decade, either lives with his parents or is in hobosexual situationships with women who support him, and is constantly depressed. I don't mind people having different lifestyles than me, but I think getting introduced to kink and troon shit through gay furry shit ruined this guy's life. I think the furry community has so many crazy, dangerous people in it, and they're not quarantined at all, that it really can ruin your life. I wish it was just about liking animals and costumes and not weapons-grade sex-pestery and crimes.

Furries i think have to most sexual aggressive people that i know of. I like to share yiff of all sexual natures and one day someone DMed, very quickly he asked me what i like, sent me some gay yiff and wanted to RP because he horny. I told him i am not into RP, nor am i gay... after being disappointed and some silence he tried to win me over to still RP with him, because he is needy... i just told him off and didn't continue to answer him anymore.
I really don't get overly horny people like that, i told him off twice before and sadly in this day and age i see people ignoring sexuality more and more often... the modern version of the "guy telling lesbians they haven't found the right man" is confused horny people that ignore the sexuality of other people which is sad.
Another furry kept talking about his latex suits and constantly tried to get people to visit him so they can make photos of him with his camera. Once i was over at his place and he told me i could sleep in his photography room where he had a tiny bed... like... no... no... NO

You don't get a mixture of normies and freaks like you do in the anime community. It's all freaks with autism and other shit in the furry community. That results in a community with no social skills or boundaries resulting in people feeding off of depravity and pushing it onto others. It's why there's probably the largest percentage of trans people in the furry community than any other community. Sexual depravity is encouraged and on display even when an image is tagged as General.
A normie friend of mine got into the furry fandom about two years ago because they thought the animal people were cute. I warned her, she ignored it. Got a fursuit and a fursona. Talked to her recently and she had given it all up after experiencing first hand that furries are indeed freaks when people were drawing porn of her character.

I used to play Warhammer. Now, that game attracts a lot of weirdoes. But game stores are able to 86 the people who become problems, and players will warn each other about freaks, cheaters, creeps, sore-losers, whatever. In furry, it's just a soup of people, all mixed together.
Anime cons I've been to carded for 18+ panels, didn't allow any 18+ material to be shown outside of the panels, and seemed to take this pretty seriously.
My current nerd store is trying very hard to be "family friendly" and wont stock anything 18+ or hentai-ish. They don't allow players to swear or talk trash during events, and have kicked people out over it.
I'm convinced that a lot of furries enjoy the lack of boundaries. There have been attempts to de-perv the fandom but they never work. Other nerd hobbies, like Warhammer shops, were able to clean up their act, but not furry.
I wish it was just about cute cartoon animal people.

I think the biggest difference between weebs and furries is that weebs aren't encouraged to make OCs, or to roleplay as their OC. By and large, weebs just consume the media they're interested in, and if they do commission any art it's almost universally fanart of some existing character, or a non-avatar character from any story they might be writing*. So there's a minimum degree of separation between themselves and the porn, even if they spend all day sharing pictures of big titty anime girls on discord. As such, it's relatively easy for them to go into non-porn mode.
Furries, on the other hand, make a character to represent themselves as the very first rite of passage among them. And they're heavily encouraged by their peers to act out their sexual fantasies as their characters in roleplay. The coombrain comes as part of the group identity, and has a knock-on effect on everything they do.
* It's also why an artist can make bank off furries, but it's much harder to get traction among weebs.
