I say alleged because while I don't doubt it, the fact that all the people saying its chase have accounts on a dedicated vtumor forum makes me suspect some form of gayops might be afoot.

I'm 99% sure the TVA users are correct that @Birdie0 is Chase. Someone in Chase's thread said something to the effect of "he was only able to hide because he was posting in the Soyjak.Party thread where everyone else is also retarded", and I'd say that's totally accurate, lmfao

They're just trying to eliminate the competition.

As far as the matter at hand is concerned, I do believe most of the vtubers themselves are relatively harmless (despite lolibaiting or in the case of the Japanese ones, being severely immersed in their shota/loli fantasies) because I do think they legitimately stave off their impulses with whatever fictional material they get their hands on and also keep themselves occupied with their work. Sure, in an ideal world people with these desires wouldn't exist, but after seeing firsthand how many Pedos exist in so many spaces, including ones where you wouldn't even expect them to be (MMA reporting being the example I'm thinking off), I'll take what I can get.

The ones that concern me are their fans. Not the ones who follow the big titted, borderline hentai models, but the ones with very clearly loli designs or personalities - they've got nothing going for them except their obsession with these vtubers. Pretty sure years ago some fans of Gawr Gura ran off the internet an underaged girl who uploaded some tiktoks where she did a Gura impression. It was on one of the vtuber threads here, but I can't find it. In that thread there was also some focus on a sub-section of indie japanese vtubers that streamed their self-harm, masturbation and all sort of stuff there, almost approaching bowfly girl levels of depravity.

I think the anonymity aspect also attracts a bunch of derelicts that have been ran off from other spaces, or who faked their own death. The avatar lets them start anew, and pass off their unhinged behaviour as a part of their quirky persona.

I can't wrap my head around this shit having 358k views. I just get a headache when I think about the vtubing thing, because it just doesn't make any sense to me. The premise does. I can understand why someone might want to watch a 2d e-whore play videogames or whatever, but it always seems to devolve into bizarre shit like this. I don't understand the appeal. Is it a sex thing? Have we reached a point in human history where people get off to kissing sounds?

The problem is they are normalizing this sick fucking shit and more than that it's emboldening these fucking creatures and encouraging them because it makes them feel like they have a "community" and they feel safer in numbers.
These sick fucks should be harassed and bullied wherever they poke their noses out of the woodpile until they feel their best option is to follow the ribbon off the trail into the trees.

Giving these sick fucks a place to socialize and communicate and a place where they can egg each other on to even more degeneracy is a fucking mistake.
Before the Internet allowed these freaks to find each other and gather together they were a lot less of a problem. Instead of hiding their shame away and staying in their sewers they get together they start to feel confident in numbers and then they spread and draw in ever more and more sick fucks, including some that might have dealt with their unnatural shit and got help to work it out.
But when you give them a "community" and they see that they're not alone they think it's not a problem or a bad thing for them to be obsessing over sick shit like that Shondo freak.
They should feel alone and they should be afraid. Encouraging this sick fucking shit and providing content and communities for their perversion just creates a bigger problem.

The parasocial bond is a big factor here, since vtubers' roots come from the Japanese idol industry and, while Hololive and indies aren't as anal about things like a regular idol corp, a good chunk of the fanbase can be like that. Some Holo fans have thrown shitfits when their waifu collabs with a man, be it another vtuber or a human being. Same has been true for Nijisanji fans, another big corp that got their big break with english speaking male vtubers, their fans have shat their pants when any female came within the vicinity of their favorite 2D guy. Vtuber fans, be they male or female, are rabid, pathetic and have no sense of shame or social etiquette.

The worst comes from vtubers who make Boyfriend/Girlfriend Experience their thing, usually the ones who have an emphasis on ASMR. They can range from mild yet still depressing stuff (using someone who doesn't know you to fulfill a basic human need is sad, especially if it's paywalled like it often is) to the very disturbing like: pedobait, rape roleplay (vtuber being the perpetrator or the victim), sadism/masochism and other stuff I'm sure I've missed.

Having said that, this is also something present in their IRL counterparts. Streamers, youtubers, actors, musicians, even fucking book authors have always had legions of fans who would be willing to give up their life just to be acknowledged by them, even negatively.

The worst part is the voices tho.
