The problem is that they've been coasting on electing the first black president for 8 years now.
I liked Obama ca. 2008, but a huge part of the surge for his election was that he was promising to clean up Washington. To "drain the swamp", to borrow a Trumpism. But he did nothing to do that (even things within his power like dialing down the surveillance state) and, in fact, doubled down on Washington corruption with bills like Obamacare. The "first X president" means very little when you're seeing your livelihood drain away while your supposed advocates in government fight over culture war bullshit instead of taking their corporate masters to task for fucking the populace.
Too many democrats (including a few people ITT who keep stumping for Hillary) keep thinking that people will vote for Democrats forever because they're the only party who pays lip service to our issues rather than recognize that people are smart enough, in general, to realize when they're being pandered to over having their issues addressed. I know a worrying amount of middle-of-the-road, lifelong Democrat voters who are voting Stein or Trump because they're pissed that Democrats have done nothing for 30+ years to help them. The same, frankly, is happening with blue-collar Republicans and their party establishment.
My biggest hope out of this election is that both parties seriously rethink their positions on key issues like healthcare, foreign policy and political corruption however this election turns out, but I bet they'll continue sucking corporate cock for a few more years until the voting masses start busting out guillotines to deal with their leadership.
As I mentioned during a debate with one of my classmates, Trump is giving a voice to people spat upon by both parties.
While I understand that sentiment, these people have been ignored for a very long time, of course they'll gravitate towards a candidate who's even paying them lip service and attention. Even if that candidate doesn't give a shit about them. He's giving a voice to exceptional individuals?
The funniest thing to me is how these blue collar working class people genuinely thinks that a narcissistic billionaire who literally lives in a gilded tower on 5th Avenue genuinely cares about them.

Well, that's understandable that they'll latch on to someone who panders to them.
Thank you for explaining my reasoning to me. Cunt. He's giving a voice to exceptional individuals?

The only good that might come from this farce of an election is the first of the nails in the coffin of the Mainstream Media.
theyve come out as blantant shills for one side without even a shred of pretend integrity and it shows. The average joe blow on the street has lost faith in the MSM and this is a good thing. We need a less central and less easily controlled/bought out/whatever type of media that remembers what its role in society is.
Without a free and unbiased media democracy just can't happen.
Unfortunately, the most likely outcome will be a dwindling election participation from the population. My biggest hope out of this election is that both parties seriously rethink their positions on key issues like healthcare, foreign policy and political corruption however this election turns out, but I bet they'll continue sucking corporate cock for a few more years until the voting masses start busting out guillotines to deal with their leadership.
Do you think I'm laughing either way? I'm disappointed, just like I'm disappointed in you for being a cunt.I bet you're rustled
