Not really. A lot of them are now getting their news from Infowars and Prison Planet, particularly the Trump voters. This will hurt the GOP, because the end result of believing Alex Jones is that you don't vote or participate in politics. What's the point if the NOW/Illuminati/Reptilians/Jews already rule the world and control all governments? Instead you buy gold and build a bunker for when they come for you.

I'm making a assumption but you should get out of the city and see rural areas and former industrial zones. They've fared badly and nobody cares because the GDP doesn't come from there anymore. From what they see nobody cares about them.

Today we learned she sent classified info to her MAID to print out, now this?

What a fuckign joke the FBI has become
Allow me to play devils advocate here for a sec, it'd be really dangerous for a democracy to slam a candidate with criminal charges this close to an election. So why not let the voters decide if the want to punish the candidate or not.

i grew up near one of these areas. Used to have textile mills that kept communities invigorated, those are all gone now. Some areas are getting new life with BMW or Boeing, but nothing is gonna stop a community of people that has less than 700 people living there from withering away to nothing.

Seeking charges against a person over criminal actions while that person happens to be engaged in a political run is not dangerous to democracy.

Such charges are targeted at them as individuals, not as candidates. It is they that the charges are after--not the candidate of whatever party they're from. There is a fundamental difference there that makes all the difference.

*edit* and calling his supporter base "exceptional individuals" is part of the fucking problem

Thinking that cutting taxes on the super-rich will somehow lead to you being rich (and blaming the blacks/mexicans/muslims/gays when it doesn't happen), and continuing to think so for decades, does make me think that yes, they are exceptional.

Cry my a river. Did the mean old world refuse to stop for them?

Why exactly should the rest of us prop up a lifestyle that is doomed? Automation and foreign competition are here and they aren't going away. Service and tech are the future, heavy industry and farming jobs just aren't needed in large numbers anymore. The only way forwards is to adapt, not hopelessly cling to a dying model.

Putting your fingers in your ears and closing your eyes doesn't make reality go away.

It's almost as if the alt-right was spinning bullshit fairytales.
Remember how during the primaries, at every turn, people were foretelling how surely Trump will lose to his competition this time. He didn't, so the next time, they said he'd be stopped this time for sure. Until he was made the conservative candidate...

The Clinton E-mail leaks are pretty much the same, only the exact other way around.

Because they're people. You can't step over people in your mad rush to be the greatest, the biggest, best, the most powerful. That's Social Darwnism, and we all know where that leads.

You live in Missouri and your vote doesn't matter. Enjoy.

No, that's accepting reality. No amount of wishful thinking is going to uninvent automation or make foreign competition disappear. The old days are gone, people have to adapt to the new reality.

You are going to put people out of work, let them scramble for new jobs because they are "old and worn out", and you are telling me you're the righteous one here? I'm starting to think you have no regard for human life whatsoever.

IF you could get anymore strawman.
Also every right winger is a libertarian conspiracy theorist apparently

Nothing of the sort. We should have a strong safety net to take care of them. I'm just saying that no one is going to decide "Hey, I think I'll build a plant with only 50's-level automation so I can pay more workers. I'm sure my customers will gladly pay a much higher price." It just isn't happening.

Try telling the guy who needs his unskilled labor job to feed his family that. Try telling the farm laborer down here that he's being replaced by an illegal immigrant because they can be paid a slave wage.

These people are red blooded Americans, same as you or i or anybody. They want the same things for their family as you or I. And trump is the first candidate in a long time who has given them any kind of a voice.

And yes automation is here, that doesn't mean we can't soften the impact in a lot of these places. That's something that has to be done very carefully so we don't get red guard style populists in the future.

PS. I'm not a trump supporter, I won't vote for the man (I also won't vote for Hillary). I'm pretty far to the left in a lot of ways, but the left has ignored old industrial areas and rural areas for a while now. It's their own damn fault for this situation.
