Cry my a river. Did the mean old world refuse to stop for them?
No, that's accepting reality. No amount of wishful thinking is going to uninvent automation or make foreign competition disappear. The old days are gone, people have to adapt to the new reality.
Because they're people. You can't step over people in your mad rush to be the greatest, the biggest, best, the most powerful. That's Social Darwnism, and we all know where that leads.
Nothing of the sort. We should have a strong safety net to take care of them. I'm just saying that no one is going to decide "Hey, I think I'll build a plant with only 50's-level automation so I can pay more workers. I'm sure my customers will gladly pay a much higher price." It just isn't happening.
Try telling the guy who needs his unskilled labor job to feed his family that. Try telling the farm laborer down here that he's being replaced by an illegal immigrant because they can be paid a slave wage.
These people are red blooded Americans, same as you or i or anybody. They want the same things for their family as you or I. And trump is the first candidate in a long time who has given them any kind of a voice.
And yes automation is here, that doesn't mean we can't soften the impact in a lot of these places. That's something that has to be done very carefully so we don't get red guard style populists in the future.
PS. I'm not a trump supporter, I won't vote for the man (I also won't vote for Hillary). I'm pretty far to the left in a lot of ways, but the left has ignored old industrial areas and rural areas for a while now. It's their own damn fault for this situation.
And that's one reason I vote Democrat. We need a safety net for these people.
What about they kill themselves with a safety net?First it was "lol fuck them" and now they need a safety net? Which one is it?
Try handing them that safety net, "for their own good" you'll probably get cussed out or punched. Rugged self reliance and a distrust of power is the norm down here. And that's one reason I vote Democrat. We need a safety net for these people.
"No fuck them they just grew our food must be teh exceptional individuals lol look at mah gender studies degree."
Do we support programs to help them educate themselves? Try to taper off dying industries little by little instead of leaving millions in poverty with no hope? Expand opportunities in rural areas where there is a lot of room and valuable resources?
They don't think she is. Look at that idiot's post I quoted. They live in a fantasy and think CNN is pro-Trump.
MO has a competitive Senate race too.State and local votes still matter.
There's also the matter of the environment being fucked up by the constant shipping back and forth of good across oceans, so keeping manufacturing local has additional benefits, not just for workers.I'm sure we could come up with a solution that isn't 'fuck off'
When did accepting reality become edgelording?
This is downright sociopathic, people's lives deserve to be destroyed because of progress. You do realize not everyone has the intellectual capacity to earn a college degree yes? What should we do with those millions of people? Put them in camps in the name of progress?
Thank you for Correcting the Record. And when it's over and Trump doesn't get anywhere near 25% of the minority vote like you said he would, that'll be another tally in the wrong column. I don't think you're an idiot; I do think you're uncritically believing info from people who have objectively lied to you over and over and I don't know how many times you have to get clowned on before you realize that Lucy is gonna yank the football away every single time.
It didn't. It was your utter contempt for people less educated than you that I took issue with. Obviously, the past isn't coming back. That doesn't mean we carelessly allow millions to suffer because their parents were farmers.

The fun part is that the working class in America is overwhelmingly black and Hispanic. I imagine @An Ounce of Vagina 's "fuck the poor" edgelording" is aimed at poor white people but his kind of social Darwinist attitude has unpleasant racial implications.

My favorite thing to do is to play devil's advocate, so I'll play devil's advocate against myself. What if I am completely and totally wrong and Trump won't even break 200 delegates. What happens? We reaffirm that there is no fixing this country and it is doomed to be whored out to corporate interests forever. There will never be an opportunity to put an outsider into office, there will never be criminal charges for the Washington elite, and there will never be an America renewed.
Congratulations, big guy. You won.
And people say the right has no compassion, lol.I love this post. This utter lack of compassion and human decency defines the Left. It is edgelording at its finest. It's practically vintage. Do we support programs to help them educate themselves? Try to taper off dying industries little by little instead of leaving millions in poverty with no hope?
