I mentioned this in the "current year terms you hate" thread recently, but I hate the word "masking" re: autism. I understand it and its proper usage, but SJWs love to take "masking" and use it as a justification for being miserable.
There's this concept in SJW beliefs that you don't owe people a "performance," that you don't have to act normal and you don't have to be typical and quiet and respectable to deserve respect. There was a good idea there; disabled people shouldn't have to make non-disabled people comfortable at their own expense (like not letting strangers pet their service animal, not having to justify to everyone why they use a wheelchair when they aren't completely paraplegic, so on and so forth.) But just like everything that turns a normal liberal into a SJW, they take this one good idea and run with it to nigh comical extremes and end up with "autistic people shouldn't be instructed on how to behave in public because anything that makes you change your default nature is literally torture." The fucking absurd part is when those same people then tell everyone what to think or say, as if it's not exactly the same thing they're condemning but in support of their causes. What's the difference between teaching an autistic kid to look their teacher in the eyes and verbally acknowledge them as a show of respect, and demanding the same kid defer to more oppressed peoples and use neopronouns and do all that other confusing backwards bullshit? It's just hypocritical, is what it is.

And for what it's worth, I don't think leaving an autistic child to grow up as a feral caveman is as benign and good an option as these people seem to think. Every kid gets instructed on how to act in public, it comes with living in a fucking society. Just because it's harder for some people doesn't mean it isn't worth doing, and it's certainly not equitable to "hey what if we injected you with bleach and beat you and zapped you and poured concrete up your butt, that'd fix you, right?" If you grow up and CAN'T function as an adult and end up having a worse life as a result, the people who raised you failed you. You're not somehow "better off" because you're left in this uninstructed state, that's just an appeal to nature and it's a fallacy.
