I don't see how this thread, and the Thunderdome as a whole, is ruining the site. Maybe it's my own very limited perspective because I came in in 2019 and missed the early days.

As I said in the other post it's not like you can avoid politics in lolcows anymore either, so if that's the reasoning then I daresay half the site would have to go to get it up to optimum standards. Hell, there's entire sections of this site dedicated to lolcows who are primarily political grifters with the weeb wars shit and catboy ranch stuff.

Think it’s much simpler than that. The BP has been around for nearly as long as Null’s been running the forum, and he’s said he likes it because its users produce and maintain quality threads. That’s the kind of shit he likes, so he throws them a bone to keep those users around.

It just struck me as weird because the conservative ideal is self-reliance. There are tens of millions of conservative women, do they really need to turn to the internet’s most hated man to build them a safe space enclave surrounded by some of the biggest loser men in the world, with practically zero chance to pull in any more women like them because the site is so obscure and disreputable? It would be better if Null helped them set up their own forum separate from the rest of the site’s baggage.
