Tony mentions that Vito had been slapfighting on Twitter for a couple of weeks at that point.
In turn, each successive show started featuring Dax needling Vito over EJ during the banter segment, but the whole thing just snowballed. At first it seemed like he was just doing it for da bit.
By the time the ISOM comic came out, Dick was so invested that he cajoled audio engineer Sean into reading it and bringing his comments into TDS. That must have involved quite some desperate convincing, because Sean had a long track record of not giving any fucks about cringe Internet drama.
With so much Rippaverse discussion now pervading both of his shows, Dax basically painted himself into a corner. In his mind, to avoid dropping the subject and taking the L, he had no choice but to double down on Vaedo-guarding, which he has basically been doing ever since.
IIRC Riley wasn't really attached to any of this at all until he took the trip to the Rippaverse warehouse to tape his own fucking cash money onto the window. Maybe Dick put him up to it somewhat, but I would fully believe that this retard drove a thousand miles, of his own accord, just as an act of attention whoring and Masterson ballwashing.
