I disagree with Null's assessment here. The only reason I don't view it this way is because Dick did try to downplay the falling out with Maddox at first and was more cordial about it in the beginning. It was only as things ramped up with Maddox's behavior that he started going after him more viciously. If he really wanted to just siphon Maddox for views, why didn't he treat Maddox like crap from the beginning? Maddox at the end of the day didn't like that Dick became the more popular one on their show. Dick to his credit was trying to be more professional with the breakup of their partnership up until Maddox gave him a reason not to be.

What happened with Dick is that after the feud with Maddox dried up, he suddenly needed a new personality to milk because that is how he found success and views the first time. Rather than let it naturally form where he is the person in the right, he now has to artificially create conflict which has now landed him in a world of hurt.

What happened with Dick is something that isn't unique to him. It happens with a lot of personalities and podcasters that go down the drama route: eventually they have to move on from their golden cow and have to start looking for other personalities to start drama with to keep their platforms alive, allowing themselves to be destroyed in the process. I saw it happen first hand with The Drunken Peasants podcast seven years ago.

Myself, I didn't realize it was Vito until nearly a year later. In any event, Vito was jealous or pissed off of Eric. Apparently, Dax laughed at Vito for this for months, but then decided to go after Eric. Saying the comic sucks. He then got found out for not actually reading the comic.

There was also a Flash stream Eric/EVS were on where Dax and later Vito joined on for a few minutes to talk about it. And it's possible Dax felt slighted by Eric. So he then decided to double down on things. EVS kept saying Eric should listen to Dax. I believe this is when Eric decided to send the text that months later EVS would call a night letter and go public with hating Eric.


Personally, I think it was EVS that got Dax to go after Eric. A lot of stuff happened around this time, and for me at least, it kind of fits. Basically, use Dax and his people as War Campaign 2. Although it's possible after seeing Dax and Eric go at it for a bit, EVS saw blood in the water and decided it was time for him to start going after Eric too.

I personally believe this theory because to this day I have to yet see any evidence of a connection between Dick and Eric or any evidence for how Eric came on Dick's radar in the first place. Other than that people that Dick associates with had issues with Eric.
