Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV), is a "free" to play MMORPG that has been out for an entire decade now. You may or may not know what it is depending on how much you've played MMOs before or have been hit with this copypasta:
One of the big things being the fact that the game is championed as a 'casual friendly' game. This means that the bulk of the game's content is piss easy to wade through, there is actual moderation for stuff that would be common place Trade/Barrens/Public chat in WoW or other online games, and the developers encourage players to put down the game and stop playing.
A lot of this has contributed to a very entitled attitude in the community, manifesting in a myriad of ways. The most obvious (and potentially benign) being the now parodied line of XIV being a 'great, welcoming community', unlike those meanies in other online games (primarily WoW, but literally any other game.) This creates an atmosphere of toxic positivity that radiates throughout the game -- people are afraid to give any sort of criticism to another player because it's not nice (and they could be banned!) and so on and so forth.
The game itself is quite popular with trannies, gooners, and pedophiles due to the ability of being able to play dress up with cat girls, bunny boys, and an entire midget race just to ERP with each other or do savage raids that will require you to join a discord full of overweight troons who have clocked 3000 hours on this game.
The community itself can be compared to the Second Life community
A huge reason why trannies play this game is for the ERP. Erotic roleplay is not banned despite the game being rated T by the ESRB which is targeted towards ages 13 and up. If you're wondering why Square Enix doesn't just ban ERP, it's because a huge chunk of FFXIV players are erotic roleplayers, a majority of whom will pay a $14.99 subscription per month just to fuck their ERP buddy. The most popular servers in the North American Data Center are places like Balmung which is considered "hard to get into" due to it being an ERP server.

Many people ERP in FFXIV hoping to start e-dating a virtual cat girl or bunny boy. You can find pretty much any fetish on this game: BDSM, futas, diaper roleplay, rape, even age play! There is an entire economy with virtual currency built off ERP in this game, this is not a joke. If you have ever been to any of the residential areas I.E player homes, you can be almost guaranteed to find a brothel there. These places are often advertised on Twitter, in game chats, their websites, and have people with full work schedules as a virtual prostitute. Some even create Twitter gimmick accounts for their FFXIV characters.

Rain Nightclub
A bunch of faggots dancing at a virtual nightclub to pokemon music
Some players will dedicate an autistic amount of time and resources to their FFXIV groups. One particular one is the "Rain Nightclub" incident. On July 5th, 2022, a reddit user named "u/AkivaBalthazar" posted on r/Asmongold showing off four billboards they bought for $12k across Texas and California. The billboards were meant to advertise an in game adult themed "Summer Bash" on July 9th, 2022.
On July 6th, Asmongold reacted to the billboard in an hour-long stream that included a segment where he interviewed and questioned the discord jannies who created and funded the billboards. At the 38:09-minute mark, he starts his call with the troon mods in the discord. This is when it's revealed that they paid $12k for this shit.
Something to note is that the characters featured in the advertisement use modded outfits, which Square Enix specifically states is against the TOS.
Because of how fucking stupid it is to advertise an in game event publicly without the approval of Square Enix by using their IP for an advertisement, people would make fun of the group both in game and on social media causing the mods of the Rain Nightclub to throw a bitchfit.
In game trolling of the nightclub:
"Please do not clown emote us"
The mods in the discord would shit themselves and start DFEing everything, denying having any responsibility for the event. Multiple mods would later go on Twitter and claim they knew nothing about the billboard as well.
The person who bought the billboard was a retard tranny named "DJ_Potate" who claims he had a lawyer advise him on these billboards and the legality of them.

DJ Troon would later private his twitter after getting made fun of by everyone.
Dating
Similar to other games, there are a lot of tranny sideshows on FFXIV related websites and discords who are into dating. There are multiple interpersonal relationships and conflicts that are ruined and lead to public chimp outs, entire friend groups dissolving, mentally unstable people making entire videos cataloguing their unhinged thought process and entire lawsuits being filed. You have the people who are incapable of distinguishing their real life self and their created fantasy character.

People in FFXIV are obsessed with how their game looks much like how people in the Skyrim modding community are obsessed with making Skyrim not look like Skyrim. GShade was a plugin used to improve the looks of a game that uses PS3 graphics. The plugin was used by 90% of people who play this game and sponsored by almost every FFXIV YouTuber.
The issue is that the developer for it was an absolute retard who uploaded malware to his plugin to own a sixteen year old. Their mod was force-restarting people's computers as a part of some anti-tamper DRM to stop people from using a side-mod to GShade, Deezshade.

After being confronted about this, the developer would claim he did it as a "lesson" to anyone wanting to use something else other than his shitty plugin and attempted to deflect the blame onto others.
Since this is pretty much a federal crime, people were not happy that this plugin was being used to upload malware onto their computer by an autistic man who likes to play dress up with cat girls and add filters to it. The GitHub for the plugin would eventually be banned for malware distribution and the developer would throw a hissy fit about, trying to bring people back to using his malware.
