Civvie 11 - Retro FPS Boomer

Okay, I'm just going to say: I think you guys are blowing things way out of proportion. I stand by Selaco being a good game. I loved it. Yeah, it sucks that the dev is a sperg and put in one single pro-tranny image but it's on GZDoom and it's easy as shit to pirate where you don't even need a crack.

Not everything is globohomo trying to turn the children into depraved sex & consumerism-worshipping faggots. Some of you guys need to take a step back because this mirrors what the Left does: "Oh, I saw a single Oswald Spengler quote that this dev cited. Obviously, part of the right wing chuds and pro-fascist. Boycott their game and fuck them!" That's basically what you guys are doing.

Calm down. Drink water. Pace your shitposting.

Now, if the dev comes out and publicly say's "I rape babies." Then okay, egg on my face. But you can't keep going with extreme reactions over benign things.

I wish indie games would stop releasing episodically. First of all it’s slightly pretentious to presume your game is going to be an epic 3+ part franchise from the get-go, even worse to play your customers along like a fiddle promising that the rest of the game is coming soon, just as soon as you give us your money and wait three years for chapter two.

Finish your Damn games people, then sell them. We get this unfinished game shit enough with AAA devs, we don’t need indie games following suit too.

Agreed. Fallen Aces is another one. Game looks great. But, once again it's released in Early Access? WTF? How difficult could it be to release a fully-fleshed out experience? Or, a compromise could be that the game launches -fully complete- at a lower price point, dev wants to add more content, here comes free DLC and the price raises appropriately like Shovel Knight. How hard is this? It's getting obnoxious how many devs do this.

At best its a dev team biting off more than they can chew and having no choice but to segment the game into chunks to stay afloat, but even that just comes off as unprofessional - and if feature creep was that high with the project then scale the damn project back so its a tidy finished package. In six years time when the 'full' experience hopefully releases will it even be the same game? Who will be left on the dev team by that point who hasnt left? Who will be in charge? The credits seem to reveal that its a bunch of randos from Doom discord groups so I highly doubt the same people will be working on this game for the next half decade.

At worst - and this is what I think most games do this for - its a scheme to ensure that the fanbase gets strung along for as long as possible so they can auto-generate hype, theorycraft their unfinished game's story, and buy the merchandise with the anticipation that sometime, someday, more is coming with the added bonus of being able to deflect criticism since its not finished they will fix it!! Adhd zoomershooter extraordinaire Ultrakill does this, indie darling tumblr-baitgame Deltarune is doing this, autist furry kid baitgame Poppy's Playtime is doing this. Selaco just goes a step further and releases a demo, then early access, then episode 1. I mean Jesus, when does the game finally get finished enough it can be called complete and not just paying for a beta?

I bet there's a spiral somewhere in the game. That's how the pedo cult signals that they're down with the clown(John Wayne Gacy).

Ever since sticker reactions were removed things have gotten dumber around here.

There's dudes here who are going to discover Uzumaki and see the spiral then go "OMG! PEDOPHILES!"

there's two things i don't understand about fallen aces as well, wasn't this game announced three years ago? how does ONE episode with five maps for what is fundamentally speaking an action doom 2 inspired game take this long to develop?

and i know that by being le indie devs they get the usual excuses, but it still is baffling that it takes this fucking much to fork a part of this out, and it's even more baffling that under their own words these cunts will take another two fucking years to finish this game.

and for a personal nitpick, what is it with these developers and their allergy of having a map you can always use? already played the level right after the first one and i'm stuck wandering a big-ass harbour because as again, there's no way to see where i have to go to fetch the key for the exit.

edit:
past all of this i REALLY have no idea what to think about this game, i like how it plays and how it looks, but if i have to expect another postal 4, i might as well get a refund asap.

I wouldn't care so much about endless early access games if they weren't fucking shoving them in my face and advertising them like they're finished games. I'm so tired of seeing a recent release that looks cool and then seeing an Early Access tag on there with the dev saying the release date is "when it's ready" which is such a fucking copout.

All that tells me is that they don't know scope, haven't set reasonable expectations for themselves, and are more interested in just getting money now rather than finishing. All those games are almost always release a wet fart of a v1.0, too. The Selaco tranny is a great example of that. He's seething about being told he isn't perfect and is using the EA moniker to deflect criticism. That just tells me I should pirate his game if I actually want to play it because he doesn't deserve my money.

I watched the Selaco review and it seems almost like a paid shill job. At one point he's like "check out how great the combat is" and it's just very standard FPS combat. Is it supposed to be better because it has punchy sounds? This is the first video of his where I really feel like he has an undeclared conflict of interest because he's showing me what looks like a mediocre game while saying it's amazing. Is he friends with one of the devs? His tone throughout the review really rubbed me the wrong way, like he's being a phony. He's praised other games where it doesn't come across this way.

What makes the combat good is the level design and enemy placement. Enemies will flank you and be generally unpredictable. The combat is about moving and trying to get the upper hand on combatants. If you stand your ground or try to peak around corners you will get fucked at the mid and especially high difficulty levels.

I beat it on the hardest difficulty and I found myself replaying sections over and over to figure out this sort of combat puzzle.

Possibly and possibly not, but a big chunk of his review is covering the gimmick weapon they added voiced by him. It's might not even be that far off his character in Postal 4 in line counts and how much of a tongue bathing he gave that game was also mentioned recently.

God damn he appears in that too? And there's Mandalore in Ultrakill. Even in the time before Gamergate it wasn't that incestuous, and it's a massive conflict of interest.

you are simply wrong about this

encouraging people and children to cut their dicks off is not benign. you are nigger cattle.

If that's the case he didn't do a good job showing it on video. He compares it to F.E.A.R.'s AI but he did a much better job showing that off in its respective review.

You have to play on the higher difficulties to really get that experience. It looked like Civvie was playing on normal which allows you to stone foot it and hold your ground much more often in the early game. By mid-game the enemies ramp up their difficulty levels and the A.I. is more aggressive as the game continues.
