I think it happened early this year or around Christmas. Lucky for Adam, it happened without much fanfare. It wasn't even relevant in the Japanese expat community from what I can tell.

Even outside of general Adam's autism, it's incongruent with his normal actions. He spent months sperging about how much he loves takoyaki and then proceeded to turn down a job in the region most famous for making it?

The offer wasn't for the prestigious dead-end JET position where he'd be in a cold, depressing cityscape and barely be able to afford his living costs, so he wasn't interested.

It was too far away from any big city and only had something like 1000 people living there so no infrastructure he'd be wanting. I think it would have been like two hours to Osaka by bus. Remember his big thing would be to go to Japan and cosplay everywhere.

Had it been in Osaka, or like close enough like Kobe which is maybe half an hour away he'd have taken it.

And I would have loved to see him strutting his stuff up and down Dotonbori in Osaka dressed as Joker. That would have been hilarious.

Not that I'm aware of. The only recent law I remember seeing is that certain roads in Kyoto are closed off to tourists because they keep trying to take pictures of the Geisha and Maiko as they go about their days.

But who knows? I've never cosplayed in Japan or any place else.

Maybe I'm just misremembering but I swear I recall hearing about a rule against cosplaying publicly in areas like Tokyo or Osaka or something. Or that you needed some kind of permission to do it. Basically meaning unless it's some kind of event you're not allowed.
