240k gross revenue on patreon is barely anything in california. after expenses and taxes he taking home less than 125k. He has a mortgage, property taxes, probably a car payment, all kinds of special state of CA rape payments to make. Just the cost of using toll roads can be thousands per year if he drives a lot. I made a lot more than this per year for the better part of the last decade in CA (tech, laid off so my gravy train is over). I saved a lot and never bought a house, but I didn't live lavishly because I couldnt afford to do so. If his income isnt going up a lot each year then he is getting poorer. Just my cost of living adjustments each year were $10k+. If his house is in an area where housing prices havent topped out, he has a single appreciating asset but he wont be able to sell it without getting cucked on capital gains anyway.
He is probably quite worried and desperate to figure out a way to prolong his dwindling career by just rolling the dice and hoping this tantrum results in basically anything. His wife probably makes 150ish as a school teacher so with a dual income household things arent really dire yet. But He will need to work for another 20 years minimum before he can retire so theres just no way in hell that he will be able to do that as an entertainer given the small audience and flat viewership.
The CA -> TX pipeline that has been happening since covid wouldve actually been a really smart thing for him to do. he doesnt associate with anyone who is anyone in the entertainment business, hes not an outdoorsman who can really take advantage of the california climate and topogrpaphy, and if you take his words at face value, he would be more more socially and politically aligned with his neighbors if he moved to there. he is right to be desperate right now, financially speaking.
