Cocaine itself is one of the metabolites that is looked for, but there are others, like benzoylecgonine, which is also abundant in hair follicles.

The amount and ratio of these two indicates active cocaine use, if they did not detect any benzoylecgonine, they know that the kid did not touch coke, and it was just in the sample, if they found it in a good ratio, they know it was actual use.

I'm gonna go on a limb and guess that CPS talked to the children about what was going on, and if anyone tried to step in or ask them how they were doing. One could guess the grandparents knew about it, but decided to not do anything due to wanting to cover for the parents. There is also the chance (and I pray it is this) the grandparents didn't know about what was going on and/or were led astray by the parents as for the true state of the children.

I've seen my sister lie to my parents and gaslight her children into believing that things were allright, when they were not allright; for quite some time my parents let this slide as they wanted the children to stay with her, as to promote strong family ties. Granted my folks finally understood what was actually happening once one of her older children (after they became an adult) told the truth about what was happening, leading my parents to understanding the bigger picture at hand and what to do to try to help their grandchildren.

I can only hope and pray that racket's parents realize the true evilness the they have been engaging in; to bring about a secure and loving live for their grandchildren.

The case involved a custody battle between a separated husband and wife. In the case the husband was trying to get sole custody of the children. The mother was accused of doing all sorts of fucked up shit with their children including exposing their children, daughter specifically I believe, to drugs. It may have even been cocaine. I would like to review some of the streams where Nick talked about this case as I am willing to bet there are some fucking GEMS from Nick in those streams. It would not surprise me to hear Nick making some "up against the wall" type statements.

Some chemical reactions will lead to multiple chemicals being created, cocaine itself needs to transform into another compound, Norcocaine, to work.

These reactions, given the same input, will generally give the same output, this paper shows that if you have (in this case) 10 units of cocaine in the hair, there is at least 1 unit of benzoylecgonine in the hair.

If that ratio is not present, or is too low, it is not reliably indicative of active cocaine use.

One thing to understand about the follicle test is that it is a shit test, unless done correctly, as in they actually get the hair follicle, and test just the hair follicle, and none of the shaft of the hair. it is a really easy test to screw up and get a false positive or a false negative.

I politely disagree with this assessment, The test is more likely to return a negative result than a positive one.

In the Mexican rehab study the hair test only picked up 65.2% of the self-admitted cokeheads, 32 out of 46. That's where the test is flawed: it doesn't pick up on nearly enough drug abusers to be a fully useful tool.

So if a hypothetical kid allegedly tested positive at those levels indicated in the document of uncertain origin, it would absolutely be an indication of continuous cocaine abuse.

It taints any potential jury pool, making a fair jury trail impossible. SCOTUS has been extremely clear that all defendants have a constitutional right to see all evidence against them and prepare a defense BEFORE IT IS PRESENTED IN COURT.

He was at the hearing where the drug findings regarding the children were presented. He currently faces no charges that stem from that test. He received the results the same time as the state and long before any trial. No evidence has been presented against Nick in court. His probable cause hearing, where the prosecution presents the evidence they plan to use against him in criminal court, is in August. There is a timeline by rule where the prosecution will provide all their evidence before that hearing.

The leak of the document doesn't taint the jury pool any more than the search warrant or body cam. The record is considered private to protect the children, not Nick. If the state does charge him with an additional crime and used the drug test as evidence, it would redact the names of the kids and released publicly. Nick received that evidence 3 weeks ago. He has no "due process" arguments for that leak.
