Can two people that stick to the same types of threads over and over again, having the same positions that they had 10 years ago, be considered to have any impact on the site other than causing some petty derailing?

Kind of ironic that Chris became a monster as he fell into their side of politics. You could almost say that represents the modern world in a way.

I don't see why people think we can all just retreat to the supposed nostalgic period of the 2000's where "things were reasonable". As if we didn't get here by those same times.

Maybe. The only way to confirm it is to see if there was an overlap between those that laughed at him and those that laughed at ADF, and if there was some tard-guarding for the later, as the internet and 4chan was pretty on the center during the late 2000s/early 2010s, altough ED leaned more to the left.

Nostalgia and denial, really. Among people on the "right" and that I know of, Vee/Codrin Stavri and ShortFatOtaku/Devon Del Vecchio are the prime examples of it. Vee wants to return to the 2000s because he likes to larp as a guy that grew up as an american, and because during those times people didn't pay as much attention to his softcore coomer games/animu that he likes so much, and SFO has never left his college days, and would still be a leftist if they just had a better rethoric/boiled the frog slower (he's also a coomer, so there's that)

It was never meant to be an echo chamber because the Farms wasn't ever meant to be anything besides the main content that it has, the lolcows, and even then, it could be argued that what cathegorizes a "lolcow" transforms and mutates with accordance or aganist the times. This wasn't an 8chan situation where people migrated from a previously existing site to make a new site that didn't have what they disliked from the previous one. The Farms simply existed, and the world around it changed, and trying to maintain parts of the attitude/feel that it had during its inception isn't an inherently moral action.

You were here long before I was, so tell me, was there a similar amount of anti-tranny and pro-tranny sentiment during the forum's inception? Was there a clear division among the userbase over those that took Trump during 2016 seriously and those that did not? Would an "anti-lgbt kiwis" thread be recieved in a similar way as the "lgbt kiwis" was if they were made during the forum's early days?
