I don't know if I'd say 4chan was more centre in the early 2010's so much as I don't think many people gave a shit about politics. At least that's how it seemed to me, though I've seen some people attempt to reframe old 4chan as a bastion of 'moderate liberal thought'. But then things changed, and as everything got more and more political 4chan had to change, too. At least that's how it was for me.
For once I'll agree with you but not for the reasons you think. Not to get into political shitflinging but people who see the 2000's as some ignorant, a-political time really should look into how hard things changed from the 60's to 90's and how that led to the 2000's and beyond.
