SeedWelp since im here might as well ask:
Which one has the most fujo following?
It's revisionism because it doesn't make any sense. Wing exists because they didn't have the female audience and they thought they could get it (and failed in Japan). SEED was the first time they actually cracked it and it's specifically designed as a series to sell to women. You don't build your merchandise and a toy empire around selling model kits if your primary audience wants phone charms and music CDs (or the early 80s versions of these). Look at how many openings and insert songs SEED has and you see a very specific strategy to sell things women want. It didn't take them 20 years to tap into 'the original audience'.Women being the majority of Gundam fans is how we got fun clusterfucks like Wing, the latter half of 08th MS, The Origin, and Flay. They're also the demographic that rightfully despises Stardust Memory. Though chasing for that demographic without actually thinking about what they'd want is how you get Seed and Seed Destiny sucking so much at human drama and assuming pretty character design will paper over all flaws. Tomino himself realized how important they were, which is how we get Turn A being so good and unique and completely unlike the dispassionate meatgrinder of Victory. And to think he nearly screwed it all up by wanting Garma to last only two episodes instead of the 5+2 he gets.
Check the fucking dates when LoGH was created in 1982 and Mobile Suit Gundam was created in 1979 and Reinhardt is the ripoff of Char.Well, Char is a ripoff of Reinhardt von Lohengramm, the gayest aryan in space, so that checks.
Nothing like coming into this thread after work only to see theres traffic and you niggas are talking about literal gay shit. I love the farms XD
It's the Gundam thread. Talking about literal gay shit is inevitable.
Please say sike, how in the fuck the worst gundam serie in my eyes happens to have a fujo following. I expected this from wing, 00 or seed but fucking Stardust fucking memory!?
Wing wishes it was half as gay as Stardust Memory. Even Gwitch isn't as gay as 0083.
0083 is like five seconds from onscreen buttsex 50% of the time
BAH. Only horny bastards, men and women equally think like that. Maybe 4chan too. No different than the horny nerdy brats that sees two people holding hands and think it's a couple, or if a boy or a girl hug they think it's romantic, not like friends can hug! I mean you all hugged someone out friendship, or someone like a family member but never thought of it like that! Fanfic as old as time before fanfic or even shipping was even a word. It's revisionism because it doesn't make any sense. There has always been dykes wanting to claim how important they are to Gundam and how they're totally true and honest fans. But it's never true. They never spend money on anything, they barely interact with the actual media. All they do is write fanfics and misinterpret any scene they can to post screencaps on their blogs. This has been going on since Wing and there's no money in them for Bandai or Sunrise and they don't interact with anything but their own fanfic circles so they're completely irrelevant while claiming the opposite.
Wing, 00 and SEED. Those three have the very young fujo following, or fujo in training.Welp since im here might as well ask:

Wing in the US, probably OG 0079 in Japan.Welp since im here might as well ask:

00, SEED and Wing for sure. Each for different reasons. I still find it funny that a BL artist like Yun Kouga drew some of the hottest women in Gundam.Welp since im here might as well ask:

That's around when fujoshi shit was really gaining steam too. Late 70s with stuff like Devilman and Grendizer were especially big influences on that early fujoshi scene.Check the fucking dates when LoGH was created in 1982 and Mobile Suit Gundam was created in 1979 and Reinhardt is the ripoff of Char.
Wing was a pretty big success. And a hit with girls. 90s Sunrise in general had lots of those sorta boy band-ish shows. Superior Raideen, Dagwon, Wing, Samurai Troopers, etc. Lots of handsome boys grappling each other and very suggestive promo art. All of which had big female fanbases. Hell, two different directors from the Brave series went on to direct BL shows. So, calling SEED the first time they cracked it is nuts. If anything, it's just the execs tripling down and making something everyone could dig to some extent. It's revisionism because it doesn't make any sense. Gundam burnout was happening in Japan. You can't say they swooped up a large female audience and immediately lost it with Gundam X. Wing was more popular with women than the other series at the time but they weren't a big enough audience to impact the franchise. It's the west that really runs with Wing and forces it's inclusion in so much. Wing Zero custom is our RX-78-2Wing was a pretty big success. Wing did well enough to warrant a sequel OVA and a gazillion spin-off manga. There's a reason it still gets content while X was lucky to get a couple of manga entries years after its TV run. Not saying that is all due to women or anything, but X just didn't click with people in the same way.Gundam burnout was happening in Japan. Women were a big enough audience to turn it into a franchise in the first place. Without women, 0079 would've likely fallen into obscurity after being canceled.Gundam burnout was happening in Japan. X had a lot of issues in general but it's not about X specifically. If the female market is so important to Gundam and the biggest female market percentage ever at the time lead to a cancellation of the TV series then it means women aren't a market worth having. Which we know isn't true because women are much bigger consumers than men are and it's why they always pander to them in modern stuff. It just doesn't make any sense that women matter to Gundam. Fangirls throwing themselves at Amuro and getting newtype abortions is all it ever was.Wing did well enough to warrant a sequel OVA and a gazillion spin-off manga. I think X probably would have done great in the US had Toonami been able to license it (They wanted it or Turn A instead of 0079) but it seems like it just wasn't meant to be.
X has more interesting fights and a cool setting. I really like the Freeden's crews as characters too. I've got a soft spot for relationships like Tifa and Garrod's as well.Women were a big enough audience to turn it into a franchise in the first place. Personally I like X more than Wing.
Sometimes, female fans make no sense. But, I've never seen a lot of sales or ratings info about X one way or another. No director stories or whatnot. I know the one writer split hairs about the nature or the cancelation in an interview, but I've never seen anyone really dig into the factors. Other than "it just didn't do well". Maybe girls just didn't like the relative lack of yaoibait in X.X had a lot of issues in general but it's not about X specifically. The gayest shit in X is Enil and Tonya. Those bitches are gay (good for them good for them!).X has more interesting fights and a cool setting. I really like the Freeden's crews as characters too. I've got a soft spot for relationships like Tifa and Garrod's as well.

Agreed. W is still special to me since it was my first, and it's a lot of fun to meme on. But X is legitmately a more interesting show in a lot of ways. The gayest shit in X is Enil and Tonya. Those bitches are gay (good for them good for them!).
I think X has a more solid story and better characters than Wing. Garrod and Tiffa's relationship is very cute.
X did poorly when it first aired, but it does have fans. I think it's become a bit of a sleeper hit like Turn A.
Roybe and Witz were yaoibait. They're Heero and Duo light. But there's many reasons X didn't do well. But it wouldn't make sense if the franchise were leaning on women. It's a shame it hasn't picked up more steam since. It could do an OAV easy. Maybe do what Freedom did and give us a feature film with the old cast.Sometimes, female fans make no sense. Not really. They may pilot Gundams, but their designs are too unremarkable to really make them come off as popularity magnets. The Frost brothers come off more like fujobait with their more obviously bishie designs and how they explictly state to being Gundam pilots for style points. Not to mention Jamil the Amuro-turned Quattro. And who knows how Lancerow would've turned out with more character exploration.Roybe and Witz were yaoibait. They're Heero and Duo light.
The Frost Brothers are yaoibait for fujos with an incest kind. Again, they're the McPoyles from It's Always Sunny with mechs and psychic powers (which makes them fun). Not really.
