Everyone does this online. They talk a lot of shit, but when Johnny Law potentially comes to knock on their door, they start deleting shit out of fear and hope it's enough satisfy the other party and that they won't look deeper. It does tend to work for civil cases unless the party in particular is feeling very spiteful and covers the cost to subpoenas the posts anyway, but in a criminal case, you've only made it slightly more annoying for the courts to find what they're looking for. Same reason deleting text messages doesn't work. All of these big corporations back up your data. Whether it be by court order or their own expert, they're getting it somehow if they really want it.
