the most common suicide methods chosen by women are wrist cutting, and overdosing on pharmaceuticals. both of these have super low success rates because people half-ass that shit like crazy. like, swallowing a dozen otc painkiller pills and then telling your mom about it so you are taken straight to the hospital. or, cutting your wrists in the bathtub but stopping at first blood and waiting for your parents to find you sitting in a pool of red water.

in my opinion most failed suicide attempts are cries for help, without serious intent to end your life.
if you really want to die, it is not difficult to achieve that goal. hanging in particular is available to anyone, anywhere - even inmates in prison cells sometimes manage to do it. and if you put a minimum amount of thought and effort into it you'll have a MUCH higher success chance than the ~60% shown here (which includes lots of cases where people get walked in on and saved by others)
but don't get me wrong, there are actual failed suicide survivors. i've seen articles abuot people who blew their faces off with guns, but survived in a horribly disfigured state, and there are also people who jump off bridges but don't die and end up paralyzed for life. really brutal shit. just not the "swallowed ten paracetamol pills then called 911 on myself" types.
