Elden Ring

Spoiler final boss is lame, but somehow looks visually a lot better than the leaks suggested so that guy must have had an early build of some kind. I don't care for it, personally.

Anyway, some of the leaks, reused assets from prior games, and the bizarre lack of an opening cutscene bespeak of the troubled development of this DLC. Bet it's still great though.
It feels like the Game of Thrones Finale with the Nights King and Arya instead of the Nights King and John. Except it’s Miquella and Radahn instead of Miquella and Godwyn. Just disappointment because they tried to subvert expectations instead of just delivering payoff to what was suggested.

The other bosses like the Lord of Frenzied Flame feels lazier than the grave robbers in the Sunken Crown.

While I like the world design it's very much the absolute worst of endgame content. Too much bloated health pool and absolutely insane boss damage, it makes me think I missed some way to upgrade armor or that I need vitality to over 60 since literally everything kills me in two hits.

I thought I'd solo bosses but ended up using mimic tear since the health pool and damage are insane and so far too many of them are floaty with terrible tracking. You can argue the blame on me since I do a strength build and my weapons are longsword+shield/two longsword/greatsword but needing to cheeze the game with online looked builds is bullshit.

That's a really apt comparison. It's like, did I see it coming? No. Is that mild surprise worth the disappointment and squandering of a much more exciting concept and foreshadowing that preceded it? Not really. Especially since it's a character we have already seen and I never really considered as interesting as the other demigods anyway.

I don't know. I am not as torn up about it as some people appear to be but it was a lame pick overall. Even a straight (heh) fight with Miquella in some form might have been cooler, but then From couldn't have pulled resources from a trillion different two giant sword guys in their backlog to slap this together.

I don't know if it is fair to complain about cheesy online builds or the bosses not being fair if you're intentionally gimping yourself by playing pure STR and not going for double bonk staggers at least.

Elden Ring punishes you for trying to play it like a sword and board only autist. Has since day one.

From what I’ve seen of the dlc, best dlc my ass. I haven’t played it yet because I’ve been working, and I’m sure it’ll be fun as fromsoft games are, but best dlc? Really? The only boss that looked cool from videos I saw was messmer, who should’ve been the final boss imo instead of radahn… again. Definitely a lot of shilling going on.

The problem is that fromsoft had the great idea to implement level scaling… in a souls game. It’s artificial difficulty.
So is it just confirmed then that Miqulia is in a gay relationship with his half-brother?

I've been right about all of my claims so far. But seriously, why is Miquella in a gay relationship with Radhan? What is the fucking lore behind that shit? Did they just add it because they thought the Westerners would like it?
My problem isn’t necessarily gay shit being shown in media, because in the case of Elden ring it’s shown to be fucked up with Mohg and Miquella. My problem is the glorification of it, which as far as I know elden ring doesn’t do.

I feel like they could have done something with the corpse in Mogh’s palace. Like the true ending is realizing that Miquella’s flesh is still being manipulated by an Outer God and influencing his actions in the Land of Shadow.

You could have brought back Radahn by having him do what Ranni did or some shit and it would make more sense. I do like that Mogh’s homie does fight with you if you complete his quest.

I know there are valid complaints about the dlc, but I'm having a blast poison fisting everything.
Wait, you mean the damage type that does it by percentage of max hp makes bloated health pools engaging? I personally used the Black Blade, DOT and reducing max health in one package for only 46 int. What a steal

It's a bullshit argument, if the devs don't want players to play STR build then don't give them the ability to do it. It's not like I'm not engaging with the progression system. It's just bad design that could have been fixed by just buffing strength to make up for the slowness. Heck, virtually every mook encounter goes incredibly fast but bosses literally have 40 times the health pool of the random enemies.

The problem is that fromsoft had the great idea to implement level scaling… in a souls game. It’s artificial difficulty.
Jesus Christ are you serious? You need to be endgame levels anyways to play it, and the amount you get stronger each level decreases fast.

Is it just me or are the new perfumer weapons completely busted

I keep telling people, but they don't listen: you don't actually want game devs, especially Japanese ones, to elaborate on their vague lore concepts. They almost inevitably come up with something stupid when put on the spot.

I was going to say fuck this (literal) gay DLC for not being about Godwyn because he interested me the most, but we only dodged a bullet with that shitpost about the homosexual incest Miquella and Godwyn boss because the devs wanted to subvert expectations.

My issue is that the dungeon design is pretty good and the art design for some of the map is great, the other half being uninspired. I have no issues with reusing assets, but when it’s lazily done it’s just bad.
So far my favorite detail is that the candle sconces in the tower settlement are statues of the monumental from Demon's Souls. I think that's nice. But we get another brutal mob enemy with two swords, another big bad dragon with a flashy moveset, the pontiff sulyvahn looking chick that people have been bringing up, I spotted some bug men in the trailer like there are in ringed city.

This feels like it's another "greatest hits" compilation like a lot of Dark Souls 3 was, which can be good in some doses but tiresome after a while. Still only partway through and decided to go back to the main game so I can upgrade everything to get my damage up.

The issue is that they’ve done it well before in Dark Souls and Bloodborne. They explained enough to keep it vague and satisfy people.

The DLC here answers questions and gives motives that weren’t hinted at.

I have had more fun shit posting on ERG than I ever had on Elden Ring itself lol Fromsoft fans have never felt so fragile. :story:
The entire DLC story feels like a shit post. Read the Young Lion’s Helm item description. :story:

The Lord of Frenzied Flame comes from like some Jap read Zanzibart posts and included it, y’know, as a treat.

It's not that they don't want you to its that you just picked hard mode. Do you use items? Switch your weapons? Enchant them with weaknesses? If not then you're gimping yourself on purpose and that isn't the game designer's fault.

I'll wait for lore videos, but the Lord of Frenzied Flame, to me, was definitely someone on Empyrean level. Shabriri is basically its messenger to trick people into committing crimes for it, and is all corrupting. Vyke went through so much being corrupted by the Frenzied Flame; one would think there'd be heavy lore implications and nods about how catastrophic it is. Everyone fears it for a reason - it's basically the Anti Christ to the Golden Order.
