Philosophy Tube / Oliver Lennard / Oliver "Olly" Thorn / Abigail Thorn - Breadtube's Patrick Bateman.

"Abi, Morgana, and Brandon in costume standing in the most gorgeously composed shot you’ve ever seen in a goddamn film in your life".
Move over Carol Reed - someone has figured out how to place three actors in a vaguely symmetrical position in front of a symmetrical room. They'll be analyzing each frame for years to come in film schools.

there is absolutely zero reason why Ollie would need to have specifically set his film there; this was purely so he could say he was filming in Hollywood (and potentially to qualify for SAG-AFTRA membership).
New York would have been far more logical as that's where the Nebula office is and Olly's coming from London. The only reason I can think of is that it's something to do with union rules, because various unions involved in film production work under different conditions and for different pay within a certain proximity to Hollywood/LA, meaning it may have been cheaper overall to fly out there.

I don't know if his bit part in the Acolyte would qualify him.
It absolutely qualifies him, as long as he's worked a certain minimum amount of time on set.

It seems to have mostly been filmed in Wales (around the Brecon Beacons) and Madeira - I think you have to specifically work in America to qualify for SAG-AFTRA, rather than just on an American production (he's seethed about this before re: Django filming in Romania, and why people like him are "cheaper" for American studios to hire).

Ah, well then definitely not.

Funnily enough I think the two other actors are posed well, but Olly’s hand on the bar plus the way his face is tilted looks very awkward and un kino.

Don’t they teach you that sort of thing in drama school?
His obvious man-hands certainly aren’t doing him any favors in the MOST GORGEOUSLY COMPOSED SHOT any of us have ever seen.

I was going to quote someone about two weeks ago in this thread about Chubbie saying how privileged he is for being able to go to more castings due to how depressed the biz is rn. I can't be assed to find it, so please pretend I did.

One may say that Chubbs has OP levels of privilege. Not only he comes from a rich background that allows him to not have to worry about money (like most people in the biz do) but has the time to shoot more barrels so to speak that most people can. He was already known as an Internet influencer and isn't uncomfortable enough with his past-self transition withstanding. Now, even tho most people in this thread have written in detail about their own experiences being adjacent to showbiz, I want to throw my two cents so forgive the powerlevel.
I know what it is to wait for literal months for something that even promises being a paid gig because accepting gigs from your Facebook groups is the only way you can stay relevant on your local scene. I know what it is to go uncredited because crediting you means your boss looks like shit in front of the producer. I know what it is to deal with students that can't be assed to add everyone on the same chat group for crew calls and then ask you why you showed up, while knowing those four pounds you could have used for a sandwich aren't coming back. I, like the silent 95% in this fucking industry, the same percent that gets shafted a different way each couple of months and has to alternate between a call centre and editing wedding videos. We paid our dues and will continue to pay them. I think there's hardly a more privileged person in British entertainment than Chubbie Thorn. Even Jameela did more to earn her bread.

I want you to know something. I'm not a fucking commie. I've meet a lot of fantastic, humble and truly talented people, including actors, that happen to come from wealth. If you grew up wealthy you should be fucking forced to be nice imo, you had access to education to not be a prick and don't get the 'I had to decide between rent and pursuing my dreams, so I can be grumpy' card. Truth be told most actors tend to come from money, specially today when most young actors are from acting families or otherwise artistic aristocrats. That doesn't mean a lot of them don't earn their bread, you still have enough great actors of all demographics working today, the kind that take Sir Christopher Lee's advice to actors to heart. What is undeniable is that Hollywood has created the most narcisistic generation of actors to date and considering how much actors themselves have fallen out of favour, that has somehow exacerbated the issue. You can decide for yourself if this is for the Marvel baby movie people in their 40s or the actual upcoming generation of talent. You got to be a nutcase to be an actor, being able to manifest a wide array of emotions usually means there are some issues latent and since fucking influencers get the same attention without the same emotional toll or skill threshold, you have some of the most entitled, insufferable yet desperate twits working today. If you read narcissim or just a general divorce with reality from La Chubbster, it isn't special, you need to be delussional to be in the line of work so don't feel bad about going armchair on him or his wing of the Interwebs.

To close my spiel I want to really go full armchair. I think that Chube's autosexuality puts Hontra to shame. Chube keeps Wiskus (the Nebula guy in case you forgot his name like I did) because in a fucked up way is who he was meant to be (the media hotshot producing leftie propaganda) and receiving attention from him validates Chube being a desirable starlet. In DEX, Chube places himself in the role of a pseudo-Hontra and appropiates the trauma abscribed to the opiod tranny, perhaps even to appropriate the sexual assault accusations in a meta sense since the 4chan copypasta won't go anywhere. Chube doesn't want to be Hontra, Chube wants to play Hontra, to give the image of poetic trauma without actually living it. To out-woman Hontra, to live in the flesh Hontra clearly gave up on trying to inhabit. To out-woman in the eyes of a tranny isn't to actually experience womanhood, but to indulge in the perks of being a woman without ever actually 'walking a mile in heels'. One may even abscribe a Jungian quality to it: why try to be a woman and discover how far off you are if you can forever live as a 'potential' woman, doing nothing differently that as you were a man and a failed man at that.

There are many posts I was going to quote for my soliloquy but I'm going to just quote this one. Because holy shit...

Yes, I took a screenshot of a screenshot.

Full disclosure, I'm not a photographer. But this shot has too much dead space on the sides and top (shot's too open), miss the desk/bar?. Did you notice those little trash bin things on the bar are almost lined up with the columns? The whole shot is off-centre, Brandon is lined with the column, Morgana is almost centred but Chube is framed inside. They are all laying on the bar and they are too close given the shot, hence fails at blocking (how you organise your actors and objects on frame). Lighting on everything but Chube's moobs is soft and the image lacks detail, probably to hide how aged this trio is; background looks like a Haircuts for Men album cover while the foreground looks like a boring German student film. You should be worried when the most professional looking person on your film is Brandon Rogers. Visual identity is also up the wazoo, despite how lavish and almost oneiric the art design is, the wardrobe is restraint and seems to be to a Dracula adapted to modern times with solid and boring black, minus Chube who is dressed in what I assume is his attempt at creating a modern equivalent to a Victorian corset with mall goth fashion and red, a strong colour in a piece I don't think was intended to be worn over a sweater. If the guy that could have passed for Campion Bond is trying to audition for playing Mina Harker we will officially have an even shittier League of Extraordinary Gentlemen movie.

This is of course how it's always been in the business. Most people are too busy to survive to be able to take all the unpaid/minor paying jobs that you need to do to punch yourself up in the ladder. Taking years to perfect your art just isn't something that most of us have the time to do - of course, there's also absolute hacks of nepo babies who try to take the short cut (haaaaiii Brooklyn Beckham!!!).

Olly's biggest issue isn't that he doesn't have time to devote to his "art" however - it's that he's utterly untalented and can't get rid of that uncanny skinwalking vibe he gives off. The only thing I'll give him is that he does hustle, but nothing I've seen him in convinces me he'll get more than three lines in bigger productions (and that doesn't pay the rent realistically). This is probably why being the token tranny hire was an upgrade for him... at least he'll get those three lines.

don't get the 'I had to decide between rent and pursuing my dreams, so I can be grumpy' card. Truth be told most actors tend to come from money, specially today when most young actors are from acting families or otherwise artistic aristocrats.
Personally, I think the idle sons of the leisure class absolutely should get up on stage and clown about for us. They just shouldn't be paid for it. Look at Tom Hiddleston or Benedict Cumberbatch. They get into the industry because of old money, then get ridiculously more money because of it. Don't do that. Make them dance to earn the tax write-offs.

Oliver appeared on an Instagram Live with Morgana Agnis or whatever his name is. Oliver debuted his new hairdo. I will try watching the stream but we’ll see how far I can get.

You may have doxxed yourself or, um, the other person who definitely sent this to you with that link, my dude.

Olly totally just looks like a dude now. I mean, a probably gay dude that is having a post twink crisis or something but yeah, just a dude. I mean his hair looks objectively better, less bog witch, but not feminine. Bobs need to be styled and also you need yo not be/ look like an actual dude to pull them off. If he was more realistic he would get a weave.

Notes on the stream. I gave up less than halfway thru.

Morgana introduces Oliver saying that Oliver’s presence makes the stream “extra gay” and shares that Oliver is staying at Morgana’s home.

Morgana says he used to work for Adult Swim as a stop motion animator. I can’t articulate it but Morgana has that AGP-tech-bro-nerd vibe down to a T. He doesn’t appear to alter his voice one iota. I guess he does sound kinda gay though. Morgana also drops a lot of f-bombs, so much so that I took notice of it.

It’s interesting watching Oliver here, as he is there (they tell us cheekily) as Morgana’s “assistant” while Morgana signs prints. They look at times like they are jockeying for position to be picked up by the camera. It’s hilarious cause they are both so broad shouldered and their huge noggins, long arms, and man hands are on full display. I just feel like Oliver is slightly uncomfortable competing with Morgana for his normal narc supply from the chat. At one point Morgana says she likes being around Abby as Abby towers over Morgana. Oliver looks visibly irritated and says “we are the same height!” Morgana says Oliver wears “stompy boots” though which Oliver agrees to.

Someone asks about advice for trans youth. Morgana says (basically) “it gets better.” Oliver starts to say that it’s different in Britain because things are very bad for trans youth. Morgana interrupts and says that he’s had bad experiences in southern states.

Morgana says his fashion influences are 90s alt culture, specifically citing Courtney Love and Shirley Manson. Oliver is wearing white short shorts and white top. Morgana says because he studied motion as an animator, he’s a very physical actor. Oliver says he’s more of a cerebral actor which he attributes to his philosophy studying. Oliver says he learned at drama school that “you don’t have to be good, you just have to be unique and work well with others.” Which I feel like is a telling comment given his penchant for schmoozing and trooning out as a career move. They discuss that Morgana is the lead on Dracula. Oliver wrote Morgana’s part specifically for Morgana.

Someone puts “meow” in the chat and they both start “meowing” at each other. Morgana says he and Oliver meow at each other a lot. Morgana says he started trooning out in 2009, and in those days he knew very few trans girls. Morgana says he is proud to be a cool-as-hell trans girl and can’t relate to the ones who want to be stealth or who aren’t proud of being trans. He says he would not press a button to make himself cis. Oliver says he wants to be an actor who happens to be trans. But he says like it or not people treat them as icons and that “a dozen” people came up to them at the club and wanted selfies, for instance.

Morgana says everyone is on the spectrum and we are all neuro atypical. He says because the human mind wasn’t made for the internet and we are bombarded with too much of everything. Oliver says the baseline we use for mental health or neurological wellbeing is based around holding down a job. He says that now that the nature of the economy has changed we are reconsidering what’s normal etc.

I’m less than halfway thru this shit though so I gotta peace out. Is there a way to change the playback speed on an Instagram reel? If I can watch at 2x I would try to finish it.

Thanks, I needed a good laugh this evening.

So this is the hair change then.

When he mentioned changing up his hairstyle I thought that he was going to go blonde as men only notice womens hair when there's a drastic state change. But instead he has gone for lego hair - what a choice.

He has also gone absolutely insane with the highlighter - slapping it on everywhere. It looks like hes had his eyebrows threaded as there is a redness between the brows which has then also been doused with highlighter.

Trigger warning for anyone who watches the instagram live - there is an Olly wink 5 seconds in - please save yourself from being visually assaulted like I was.

I have short hairs now. Shimmer will make me look cute and feminine! Pure man logic.
