FUCK, I just spent the entire game up to Malenia (still need to gitgud on that one) SMASHING and SLAMMING everything with the Greatsword, got decked out with the Solitude armor set, and now I learn that all the bosses are de facto %-damage only? I've heard the poison fist weapon is good, so this is as good a reason as any to try out one of the DLC weapons.
every boss feels like Malenia.
Ah, this is an adequate summary of why so many bosses and "big" enemies I've met in the DLC so far feel like shit to fight.
So let me get it straight. The entire epic war for the Elden rune has been retconned to which of the demi gods gets to fuck their "actually 700 year" old underage brother?
Did GRRM ask for reference about anime and someone suggested Boku no Pico as a joke and he thought it was serious?
I'm sorry Souls-bros, Elden Ring has officially become the gayest Souls game ever made.
Stellar Blade chads keep on winning.
So the DLC contextualizes the PC's Elden-Lordhood as a victory-by-default because the other contenders were trying too hard to get boypussy? God damn, I wish it worked that way for world leaders.
The map verticality really is nice. In the Lands Between, the map is essentially a heightmap with a few arches and caves, with the exception of the nightmare that is Mount Gelmir. The DLC region has a superficially simple map, except you can actually
get to all the depths that'd you'd first assume to just be empty instakill dead drops.
I've also switched from the Greatsword to the Greatsword of Solitude (which is an
actual greatsword and not a colossal sword). Nearly the same damage as the Greatsword, but with all the attack speed and hitbox advantages of the greatsword weapon type. Neat shit, but the DLC weapons do seem overtuned compared to vanilla. That's fine if doing the DLC after the main game, but stuff from it will trivialize the first couple NG+ playthroughs.
