Elden Ring

Anyone run the DLC with a max level character? I'm asking because I'm curious how difficult it'd be with something like that.
It's fine. 2nd boss still oneshot me. The rest are manageable so far. It's nice not to get oneshot by basic mobs and the bosses are still as challenging as you wanna allow. Mimic tear makes it a lot easier but the bosses seems to refocus aggro onto PC way more than base game.

This might be reaching but one of my favorite bits of information in this DLC is the small detail that some of the shadow people have bags of rocks like the miners do, implying the miners are actually the shells of humans trapped in this shadow world.

It isn't ground breaking but it recontextualizes stuff you hadn't considered before, that's the kind of lore stuff I like.

I never would have thought the plot would be that
Miquella is a magic James Charles
wtf is this? theres a 95% chance that a FagHag got in and decided to ruin every plot point for this bizarre ship with a canonically dead character, it honestly took the wind out of my sails to finish the dlc.
So killing the tranny and the fag is somehow bad?

Yes, because fags shouldn't exist in video games at all, even as villains. Video games are supposed to be escapism, and witnessing a fag in a video game reminds some people too much of themselves and the reality is far too much to bear.

FUCKING NEAR INSTANTANEOUSLY, STAGGERING WITH EACH HIT EVEN AT 101 POISE THAT YOU TAKE GUARANTEED FINAL HIT NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU TRY TO DODGE OR PANIC ROLL.
I might be remembering this wrong but isn't there a cap where no matter how much poise you have, a strong enough hit will always stagger you? I think it's like 2.5k damage or something like that.

Technically by killing the giga fag or you inherit his position as head fag and having your own godling to fuck.

Elden Ring lore still sucks, a lot of the youtubers talking about the DLC tries to hype it as expanding the world and characters, and if anything it made a lot of things worse.

Dark Souls 1 has 10% the amount of background material yet is ten times more endearing, even if you don't actively look for the lore.

Fun fact about poise in this game. That value it shows you the player is actually 10x what it actually is, your 101 poise is actually 10.1 poise. This is the only game that does poise like this and I hate it just as much as you do.
For real? I though the weapons do more poise damage.

See above, I didn't know it was a thing. I was assuming that boss attacks have significantly higher poise damage compared to regular enemies and PvP so if I can survive not getting staggered once during the spirit flurry then I can safely dodge the next 2 or 3 spirits attacks. Apparently poise in Elden Ring is even more stupid than that.

It's both, I don't remember exact values but most of the boss attacks IIRC deal at least 30 poise damage with the flashier moves going over (for base game idk if DLC bosses do more). They also split it into two types PVE Poise and PVP poise.

You know what? This is the first time I ever considered a cheese tactic. Fuck his confusing and undodgeable attack timings that keep sending mixed signals to my brain to fight or flight. Just tank them all with fingerprint shield + guard boost and bleed him to death with naginata. His AoE goes through shield so there you go, don't even try to block it.
When the challenge is painfully bullshit that you no longer enjoy, this is where I cast my dignity off a cliff and embrace the cheese.
Miyazaki-san, if you're reading this, consider throwing the guy doing the balancing off a cliff as well. Or not if he is willing to fix it.

Killed Bayle last night. He was a wall until I said "screw this" and grabbed the Dragonhunter Great Katana and maxed it. Even though my build was in no way suitable for the sword (I had to use talismans to meet the requirements for it), I went from barely hitting phase 2 to consistently getting him down to 10-20% health. Managed to finish him once I got the dodge timings down better.

I like that Igon's quest is a slightly happier take on Moby Dick. Bro's shouting was enough to keep pushing me.

Putrid Knight might be the worst boss in Elden Ring, and when compared to the ones with a Remembrance, it's for sure the worst by far.
Looks like shit, is annoying to fight as he is always moving away from you and his fire attack is a pain in the ass. I just hated him. Thankfully he is weak, so I didn't hate to fight him for too long.
He is so bad I'd put him in the same tier as some of the worst bosses from DaS2.

On another note, I found Bayle. I assume he is the "ultimate challenge" of this DLC, based on how little damage I did to him and also on the fact that From loves to have big dragons as their "ultimate challenge". Kalameet, Midir, and I guess Sinh to a certain degree. I still need more Scadutree levels to have a chance against him. But it's cool that you can fight him almost as soon as you enter the DLC.

the ultimate challenge of the DLC is Commander Gaius, fuck him, harder than any of the DLC bosses

This DLC is so terrible that After I finished it I don't have any desire to go after the optional shit. Actually, I didn't even watch the final cutscene and the credits, I ALT-F4 the moment I got the remembrance of the homosexual pedophile.

Gaius, Bayle, and all those weirdos that you guys keep talking about, I don't know who the fuck they are and I don't want to know. I don't think I'll ever play this garbage ever again in my life.

BTW, Two fucking ulcerated tree spirits and two giga runebears. Two dragons that don't give you incantations. Seriously, I fucking hate this DLC so fucking much.

I haven't bought the DLC myself so take this with a grain of salt but from everything I've seen, this DLC's bosses are largely very very bloodborne-esque, even more so than the base game's more aggressive bosses.

Thing is, this game isn't bloodborne, it doesn't have a true rally system. That system is what made BB work so well in regards to aggressive enemies. The issue I've had with some main game bosses and what seems to be carried over but worse in the DLC is that most of the boss fight is just waiting for the boss to finish their 30-60 second anime bullshit wombo-combo that'll curb stomp you if you even get glanced by it, to get 1-2 swings in yourself before it does another dumbass combo. You can't afford to be overly aggressive like in BB because your HP recovery is way more finite than in that game.

Rate me dumb, call it a skill issue, but I don't think soft-forcing a player into a certain build/playstyle is something that should be aspired to in the souls/rings games. It works for Armored Core, leave it there. I miss the days of DS1, 2 and to a lesser extent 3 where not only different builds but different play styles were as viable as one another. Be it more aggressive dodgeroll glass cannon or defensive damage sponge tanking.

The Ghostflame Dragon at Scadu Atlas is a complete pain in the ass to take down. My summons wouldn't even attack him and just stood there. Managed to do it anyways.

And your reward is a dragon heart, the shit that's abundant in the base game.

But don't worry, get this super hidden chest with 3 shitty smithing stones inside. That'll make everything worth it. Or what about this broken rune? Look, we all know you already killed Mohg and got half a million runes from him, but we know you'll be super excited anyway to pop up this "broken" (look how edgy the realm of shadow is, here everything is broken!!!) rune and gain 4000 dollars.

To paraphrase @Sniperwoof, knowing that people are this pants-shittingly mad about a DLC that is DS2-tier at best and mediocre at worst actually enhances my enjoyment of it. I encourage you to keep playing the DLC and making these seetheposts, I think it might actually be extending my lifespan and improving my overall enjoyment of life.

That's a big problem I have with the Divine Beast Dancing Lion boss, it has a lot of bloodborne tendencies which the camera can't handle, especially if it gets you up against a wall. And the way animations are done now, the boss would rather float in front of you so you see the entire attack instead of overshooting past you like a big clumsy monster would, it makes his 4 hit combo move incredibly hard to respond to because you don't know where the game will have his model move.

And its attacks are hard to anticipate because its entire body is just a blanket with a lion head attached, you can't read its body language at all. I only managed to beat him because I lucked out that he kept changing the weather so I could Taker's Flames him into oblivion. I feel like the boss would be improved if we could see the two guys piloting him and could predict what he was going to do. This is where I miss Demon's Souls, the boss is weak to fire, in Demon's Souls if you figured that out it would set the sheet on fire and probably expose the guys inside, but in Elden Ring the boss made of cloth and wood is fire retardant somehow.
