I had a friend who I knew through school, college and a bit beyond. It took me a while (I was a remarkably naive youth) to realise she only ever talked about herself, her problems and her life and I could have been absolutely anyone; I just happened to be there in the given circumstances.

At one point before I jettisoned this ‘friendo’ I noticed that she only ever liked anything related to who she wanted to fuck. After a few drinks one pub session I asked her if her entire set of artistic and cultural preferences all rallied around who she wanted to sleep with. As she responded with disbelief, I immediately reeled off what I knew about her favourite actor, author, comedian, sportsperson, college lecturer and even jobbing commercial actor. I told her, quite bluntly, that maybe she’d have more varied interests if she didn’t base everything solely on who she wanted to rearrange her insides.

Lost touch not long after that. No great loss.

Half the time people talk about voting people say it's all rigged and they don't vote anyway. Spite voting for a ridiculous party is just as good, which I suspect is Rowling's motive. If communists are the only ones saying men are men and women are women then yeah, why not cost the main parties votes by spoil-voting in commies.
